Barking mad conspiracy theory.

Did you consider that the competition for classic awards, particularly with the wide availability of online tools to exploit them, has gone up in the past year or two?

I agree. I was always able to redeem F flights MEL-LHR, MEL-LAX or SYD-SFO eight months to a year out and have been doing so for years. Then about six months ago, it suddenly all dryed up. Although a QF Platinum member, I've moved my AMEX points and my custom to SQ now. It was good value on QF while it lasted all those years, but not any more.

This should thus mean that the ability to book award seats as per the old system is unchanged, and so at least Golds and Platinums should thus have limited need to actually have to pay the ridiculous redemption levels in Any Seat.

A little bit of silver lining to the post-July 1 dark cloud (if only a little).
I am hoping that this is the case, as it does go some to at least providing extra benefits for the frequent flyer. My experience to date has been that I have generally been able to get a redemption within a few days of my desired travel, and I would hope this ability remains without going to expensive anyseat rewards.

big changes to Jetstar rewards??

Was just having a quick look for some tickets for my folks and noticed that the 20% discount for booking starclass rewards seems to be no longer!

I did a few things:

Classic Award Cairns-Nagoya: now a JQ route but only comes up only with QF flight designator on JQ service - 60,000 points required for star class.

Classic Award search MEL-BKK: a JQ route which used to produce a search reult for the JQ service. Now it only produces qf metal services via SYD

searched anytime reward for jetstar MEL-BKK and comes up with quote for 126,000 points in star class. one way. compared to 48,000 previously.

Also when you look for JQ rewards on the anytime function there is no ability to select 'flexible with dates' - if a search comes back negative you have to plug in day after day to see whats there - and each time the engine resets itself so you have to pull the origin and destination and dates afresh.

Not very friendly to JQ wannabe users.

Have I done something wrong and am making this too difficult?

I know the 20% discount for starclass over business was a 'promotion' but they should now reprice in line with premuim economy rewards if they're going to make this change.

Regards

The discount ended June 30 (I think). Bear in mind that the pricing would work both ways, pricing awards at PE, would also mean that one would only get SC earn at PE as well!

I just looked for a flight SYD-LDH-SYD. Cheapest anyseat award came up at more than 100k points. I think this should be the most expensive award per mile. Unless someone can come up with something even "better".
