Hi Dave,
As a former Toowoomba boy, I can offer my advice, but...
What the dickens are you doing in Toowoomba?
I can suggest a couple of other places I would visit before I went there.
Noosa is nice, so is Port Douglas.
But if you must know, there is a DIRECT home to Airport transfer bus service. No stuffing around with taxi's etc.
I will chase up the number and let you know
Cheers
Iain
ps If you are going in the next few weeks, take a jumper. In fact take several.

WHOA!! My wife and I are in Brisbane in 12 days and plan on a day drive to Toowoomba (Sun, 8/31)! We plan to see the historic buildings along Russell Street, the Japanese Gardens on West Street, maybe a little bird watching at the marsh, go to Cobbs museum, and have lunch somewhere.
We will go thru Ipswish and the scenic rim, see das neumann haus museum, enjoy the carnival of flowers (one day early) the Mort Estate Walk and whatever else surfaces.
Are we wasting our time??? Did the internet oversell the area?

No you are not wasting your time. Toowoomba is not know as the City of Flowers for now reason. But, Toowoomba in August can be cool overnight and early mornings, with lovely warm sunshine during the day. You may be a little early for the peak of the spring flowers, but there should still be lots to see and do.
As 31st August is a Sunday, be prepared for the city area to be completly dead. Dining may be a problem except for the takeaway chains.
