Jetstar - cancelling ??

Subscribe
Forgive me if this is the wrong forum for this question...

I have some tickets SYD->OSAKA with Jetstar (Jetsaver) departing in 2 months.

I am no longer available to fly then. I know its a discount airline, "no refunds", BUT is there anyway to get a refund?

As it stands.. my options:

1. sell to someone else. pay $300? ($75x4) in name change fees + the differences in the airtickets. Don't think anyone would want them as theres another Jetstar sale on now. My 2 return tickets came to about $1800.

2. Change the date (could go in Jan 08), pay $300? change fee and difference in tickets. Would make the trip cost $2800? !!!

3. Cancel, and only get tax back. lose ~$1K.

I had a dispute with Jetstar as when I bought the tickets during a sale, the website was failing, couldn't even view the terms and conditions. I entered my payment information so many times, that by the time it worked I'd missed out on the real cheap tickets (the date of the return flight also got stuffed up during my re-selecting of flights). Their response was more or less bad luck.

Are there any grounds I can claim for a full refund?

Thanks.

Interesting post I am in a similar situation!

The website crashed when I was booking the cheap Hawaii fares.

I ended up getting the cheap fares one way but normal fares for the way back. When I booked on the phone I was not made aware of any T&C's for the flight or any charges for cancellation etc.

Would be interested to push them and say I was not aware of the change of name/date fee etc.

Might give them a call tomororw actualy, but I feel that "bad luck" will be the response!

same for me, cheap there, return normal price.

I bought mine on the website and there was a box to say id read the terms and conditions (which I couldn't access, but clicked the box). The change booking option wasnt available on the web, so I rang the call centre. Changed it, paid fare difference, checked on the website and there were cheaper tickets on the same flight!?

Yes, I think they will say of bad luck - but let me know how you go. They gave me the address for customer service. After 5 months got a fairly generic reply, more or less saying 'bad luck'.

I'd hoped someone had had an experience of getting a refund, and what angle to push to actually get a refund. Is there an airline industry body that has regulations, and not offering a refund in some circumstances is against the code??

Jetstar told me the death or illness of a relative is the only possible grounds for refund.
