New China and India options from MEL..
For all those interested:

QF will commence Melbourne to Mumbai flights (via SYD) and VV. from Sunday 9th JAN 2006 (QF 123). Please note that the 333 will operate this flight and the routing is MEL-SYD-DRW-BOM. Total travel time is a whopping 16hrs 55mins. Great though as it means another international flight on a domestic sector between MEL and SYD.

QF will commence Mumbai to Melbourne flights via SYD on Wednesday 11th JAN 2006. On a SAT (from mid JAN 2006) there are 4 options for INT on Domestic sector SYD-MEL.

These are really not new flights but purely a continuation of the Mumbai flights from SYD.

also...

QF will offer Beijing-Melbourne-Beijing from JAN 2006. QF 191 Melbourne-Sydney-Beijing begins on Wednesday 11th JAN 2006 using the A330. Beijing to Melbourne via SYD commences on Friday 13th JAN 2006. Flying time is around 14hrs. This is the 4th INT on DOM flight to be offered on SAT from mid JAN 2006 from SYD to MEL: QF 2, QF 104, QF 192 (Beijing) and QF 124 (Mumbai).

Same with Mumbai this is purely a continuation of the Beijing flight.

Good news for MEL International PAX and all PAX flying SYD-MEL-SYD.

Cheers

QF SFO/YVR Schedules
Qantas has now released provisional San Francisco - Vancouver schedules and they are as follows:

QF230 SFO-YVR 1125/1330 (WED/FRI/SUN)
QF229 YVR-SFO 1900/2120 (WED/FRI/SUN)

No idea why they will use a different flight number for this sector

I'm assuming prices and Frequent Flyer availability shall come online soon.

So travelers have to use two coupons on a xONEx ticket.
I wonder why LAX-JFK hasn't seen the same change.......

Happy wanderings

Since this is not a USA domestic flight (as the QF107/108 LAX-JFK-LAX is USA domestic), will QF have the right to sell LAX-YVR without it being in conjunction with other QF travel to/from USA?

If they can, then I wonder if it will also get an AA codeshare as an alternate to the AS codesahre.

Maybe it's to do with that flight being seasonal, or maybe (in the future) not as frequent as the SYD-SFO flight.

It would cause less confusion with changing schedules etc..

Are there actually any QF mainline flights that are in the 200 range? On a very unscientific search, I could only find flights that were ops JQ (or maybe they were AO). I wonder if anything could be read into that?

Or maybe a temporary flight number just assigned for planning purposes? (Said in a fit of wild speculation.)

I can't think that the frequency or seasonality of the route would necessarily lead to this. For example, take QF107/108, which is daily to LAX but 3x to NYC.

JQ SYD-ROK no more..
JQ will discontinue its A320 Sydney-Rockhampton service from FRI 28 OCT 2005.

Unsure of reason why they are leaving but doesn't look like QFLINK will take over the route so I guess via BNE is the only choice.
