Qantas/JQ/JC Flight Updates
JetConnect 733 ZK-JNA [8J/112Y] operated the inuagural QF 126/125 AKL-BNE-AKL service today. This extra Brisbane-Auckland vv service operates thrice weekly on SUN, WED & FRI.
Today Air NZ inuagurated it's AKL-ADL-AKL service utilising A320 'ZK-OJA'. Business Class is offered, however there is talk that like with BNE A320 services, the cabin may be sold and marketed as Premium Economy.
On a related matter, as of tomorrow, Monday 27th March, JetConnect will begin Adelaide-Auckland services. The 733 will operate QF 53/4 in lieu of QF 737-800s. Flight times have been revised with a more civil departure from Adelaide, replacing the dreaded red-eye flights. Flights will operate three times a week on MON, THU and SAT.
JQ commence a raft of flights this week including MEL-BNK, ADL-MCY, ADL-HTI and so on.
Gentle reminder also, that Qantas will re-commence San Fran. flights as of this WED, the 29th March. Don't be surprised if Wunala Dreaming operates the inuagural service [X]
Cheers

QF NB's Weekly Digest
QANTAS UPDATE
Effective 8 April 2006, additional baggage charges will increase for Domestic and International flights.
Australian Flights
Additional Baggage charges for all domestic flights within Australia are A$10 per piece plus GST, if applicable. Effective 8 April 2006 additional baggage charges will increase to A$20 per piece plus GST
International Flights - Weight System
Qantas - A380 Delivery Schedule [Dates are tentative]
All QF A380-842s will feature Trent 970 engines
Route News
1. Today, Jetstar began a daily Melbourne (Avalon) to Perth A320 service. Jestar, today, also inaugurated thrice weekly flights from Melbourne-Ballina Byron.
2. Qantas has begun codesharing on EVA Air's Brisbane-Taipei vv service. This is as a result of BR suspending SYD flights indefinitely. QF 329/330 will operate three times a week.
3. Effective APR/MAY, Air Pacific will add an extra Thursday and Friday Brisbane to Fiji vv flight. It will arrive into BNE from NAN around 22.40pm and will depart back to Fiji at about 22.55pm
4. Effective late JUNE 2006, Qantas will operate double daily BNE-CNS-BNE 767-300 services. QF 168 will operate CNS-BNE before turning around to operate QF 69 BNE-CNS.
5. Air Nauru will receive 737-300 'N323AW' next month, which should replace Alliance Fokker100 flights on the Australia to Norfolk Island runs.
6. While this paragraph doesn't really have to do with Qantas, it will interest Brisbane international travellers.
Air Tahiti Nui want to commence BNE-Tahiti flights from mid-2007, Gulf Air has shown keen interest in BNE flights as has Virgin Atlantic and Vietnam Air [However VN is aircraft restricted]. There was talk of Brisbane having flights to Guam/Saipan with Air Saipan [757], however things have gone quiet.. so it looks like we'll still have to connect via CNS for Guam flights....
Message for NM. I've simply been informed more 333s will operate trans-tasman over the next few months and I haven't been given a reason as to why...
I'll have a punt though. A number of QF 767s are going in for a tail respray over the next few months & 2 763s namely VH-OGG & VH-OGH are being converted from INT config to the crappy domestic config. This could be incorrect though.. with a few 767s out of service, it makes perfect sense to use a spare 333
Hope this is of interest
Cheers

JQ MEL-CHC-MEL Flight X
FYI - Jetstar Melbourne and Christchurch pax..
A number of JQ MEL-CHC-MEL A320 flights have been cancelled during the months of May and June.
Not sure of what QF/JQ will offer in lieu of JQ services/flights and at this stage there is no reason as to why there are these significant flight cancellations.

Experience more of Australia from Singapore
In what looks to be one of the best deals I've ever seen from Singapore into Australia (at http://www.qantas.com.au/regions/dyn...enceMoreofAust ) there's flights to most cities in Australia for SG$548+tax - and you can add two additional cities from the following list as free stopovers as well:
Adelaide
Alice Springs
Armidale
Ayers Rock (Uluru)
Brisbane
Broome
Burnie
Cairns
Canberra
Coffs Harbour
Darwin
Devonport
Gold Coast
Hamilton Island
Hobart
Launceston
Melbourne
Mackay
Newcastle
Perth
Proserpine
Rockhampton
Sunshine Coast
Sydney
Townsville
Stopovers: 2 free stopovers permitted in Australia. Maximum 6 transfers allowed. Stopovers cannot be booked online. They can only be booked through Qantas Airways or an authorised travel agent and service fees will apply.
I'm sure someone could take a look at the potential for a SC run on this fare, but it looks to be quite a deal!
