QF will only give you access to a lounge based on class of travel.
Which is what I laid out in my initial post - and asked the forum for the best option.

Find a lounge that will take your credit card. (post 11)
Look at the SFO airport web site to see what lounges are available.

I just realized that QF74 now leaves SFO at 8:30pm, out of curiosity, when did this shift from the 11pm+ slot?

In saying that, this should allow OW emerald pax, who are at the airport early enough, to use the BA lounge. I think it closes at 7:30pm? Which, as sad as it is, is a touch better than the AF/KLM lounge IMO.

QF PDF timetable PDF of 21 Oct has
23:25 - 08:10 (+2) until 28 Oct
21:35 - 06:10 (+2) 29 Oct 04 Nov
20:35 - 06:10 (+2) from 06 Nov

NSW daylight saving started first Sunday in October
SYD airport has a overnight curfew 11:00 - 05:00/06:00
So expect its because of the curfew & daylight savings

Doubt it has anything to do with the curfew or daylight saving. The old timetable lasted for almost a month after daylight saving had started. Both old and new timings are well inside the curfew, regardless of daylight saving.

29 October 2017 was the first day of the northern winter 2017/18 scheduling season, the dates of which still coincide with daylight saving changes across Europe (although other parts of the world don't necessarily observe the same dates). So there is a linkage there to daylight saving time.

The "old timetable" before Sydney went on to daylight saving time on 1 October 2017 was different in local time from the timetable thereafter, to reflect daylight saving time.

Also, scheduling is done in UTC. So as far as I can see from historical data, the schedules were:-
  • [*]
  • [*]
  • [*]
So the actual schedule only changed once; there appeared to be more changes only because of local daylight saving time change dates that were not aligned to the IATA scheduling seasons.
