And the revenue seat cancellation didn't get processed for some days right up to the flight (my allocated seat remained allocated) - so much for yield management.

The stupid thing was that I then cancelled an F class SYD-LHR return revenue seat, so they lost actual business (we flew on other airlines: BA out and CX back) for the sake of not filling a seat that was empty.
And the revenue seat cancellation didn't get processed for some days right up to the flight (my allocated seat remained allocated) - so much for yield management.
