Perth - Darwin - B717

Hi,

My flight has changed on my original PER-DRW direct flight and am being offered the option to take that flight or reroute via Perth - Alice Springs - Darwin on a B717.

I am somewhat tempted to take the longer route on the B717 - but was wondering if on this route you can ever catch a glimpse of Ayers Rock?

Thanks!

The normal flightpaths go nowhere near Uluru.

You could always ask the pilot for a detour. I recall a trip back from Asia once where we were ahead of time and the pilot asked passengers if they would like to see Ayers Rock. A resounding yes vote saw us circle the rock to the delight of all!

Possibility of seatback IFE or at least screens and audio against no entertainment. No additional points or SC as one flight number would head me towards the 738 service.

I've decided to go for the 737, as realised the 717 has no entertainment onboard - I reckon 5 hours would drag!

Thanks for the help though!

Think you made the right call - that's a LONG time to spend on a QF 717.

Forward seating in the 717 is quite good (regarding noise) and there's only one undesirable seat out of 5 in each row compared with 2 undesirables out of 6 in the 738.

Barring that flipping awful last claustrophobic row on the 717 where you're staring at the walls or next row forward staring at the engine. It's the weirdest thing not looking out the window and seeing where you are, especially on approach!
