QF Nth America & HKG Changes from APRIL 2016

QF will be making some schedule/aircraft changes from April 2016:

- MEL <-> HKG will see 744 services x3 weekly, replacing A333's on selected days
- SYD <-> LAX will reduce from x10 weekly to x1 Daily (x6 weekly A380, x1 Weekly 744)
- SYD <-> DFW will increase from x6 weekly to x1 Daily
- QF will announce new Asian flying with the freed up A333 soon, most are thinking thats its coming from MEL! Hopefully, but lets wait and see.

Changes will see QF offering PY on the MEL-HKG route, whilst F will only be offered x6 weekly on QF metal on the SYD-LAX run - would mean less F redemptions on the SYD - LAX run

The source for the changes (being the QF Agents website) does not say this. Where is this idea coming from?

"most"? Who are thinking this?

If you read the linked article, it states the change, though it does sound strange since the industry website didn't say it, or did provide any specific dates and what flights (quite vague). Some have suggested since the aircraft has been taken off MEL-HKG, the aircraft would be MEL based (operating the other HKG frequencies exMEL) hence the suggestion, MEL-PVG has been thrown in as a potential route. I'm also not sure if QF have allocated additional frequency to other routes by the freed up aircraft from PER-SYD/MEL A330 changes. Well what do you think will happen Himeno?

QF will need the extra A380 capacity in order to increase DFW to daily, so in that sense its sounds logical for LAX to go x6 weekly A380 and x1 weekly 744. Schedules should be released shortly to clear up everything.

QF has requested 3 extra flights to HKG/week be assigned to them from IASC for 28/wk up from 25.
For all we know it could be 3 weekly A330 PER or BNE-HKG

And there's that vague comment in another thread that QF may abandon BKK - so freeing up yet another 333.

That's actually quite interesting and it could actually be more HKG frequencies, since CX can't add more frequency to the main 4 cities, QF could capitalise on it.

But did not AJ complain about not having access to HKG slots that prevented QF from increasing frequencies when QF announced an extra 3 weekly SYD to HKG?
I do wonder if QF will take some more A380 from their deferred 6-8?
I hope so they are very good long haul planes from a passenger point of view while the 787 Dreadliners may eventually replace the A330 but offer growth opportunities.
