Select seats on a classic reward booking?

It's been years since I made a reward booking so I can't remember... If I book a classic reward through QF for LHR-JFK in Y on AA, am I able to select seats when booking?

once the booking is made, you can get the AA reference and then select seats on the AA site

As a gold member , you should be able to select from MCE seating

Sometimes it takes a few days for ticketing to occur - even though you have a PNR. IME you won't be able to make seat reservations until you get the e-ticket receipt.

There is no issue selecting seats on AA on bookings that are not yet ticketed - on aa.com , selecting seats is a stage of booking process before paying/holding

great, thanks!

How do I get the AA ref? Do I find it on the booking on the QF site?

You will have to phone either AA or QF . Either airline's agents will be able to tell you the AA booking reference

You can also get the AA booking reference from checkmytrip (need QF booking reference and your surname).

thanks for the advice everyone. I was able to get my AA ref from checkmytrip and get some seats in the main cabin extra section which I'm looking forward to trying.

Also now just wondering, we are travelling with two others who will book directly with AA with cash. After they've booked, any idea if AA would be able to combine PNRs so I can use my status to get them in MCE also? Maybe a question for the AA forum.

Thanks again!

Certainly a question for the AAdvantage forum - but I believe the answer will be No.

Twitter private messages work great for getting your aa reference number as well.
