EDI-LHR-HKG-PEK or reverse ?

For this route we are looking to stay in HKG for 10 days and use PEK to transit. Is there any benefit as to which way we go ?
I thought it might be better to fly straight back on A380 and go via PEK !

Just FYI, China now offers 10-year tourist visas (IIRC for about the same a one-year visa used to cost). Or at least they do for US citizens, though I don't see why UK citizens wouldn't also be included.

Looks like there's a pretty broad sale. If you sign-in to BA EC and have your location as UK, there's a lot of cheap F fares.

All ex-LON. I didn't check the dates but this seems to come up annually. LON-SFO gets you ~60K RDM on Alaska w/ MVP 75K bonus, or around 45K w/o it.

Certain nationalities are eligible for transit in China without visa aka TWOV. In PEK, you are allowed up to 72 hours as long as your itinerary takes you to a "third country". HKG is treated as a separate country. In this case, you can do LHR-HKG-PEK-LHR or LHR-PEK-HKG-LHR, but not LHR-PEK-HKG-PEK-LHR without a visa.
