PR: YVR-JFK r/t in J for ~US$1,000

Works from JFK to YVR. Also as one-way for a little over half the price.

If this was CX I'd be a bit more excited, but for PR's outdated J product... eh. I think that might be the normal price.

You can fly DL J for 730USD: https://www.google.ca/flights/?f=0&g...DL440;sc=b;s=0

also non-stop, and for 300USD cheaper I'd put up with that over angled flat PR.

or connect through SEA for DL lie-flats for 940USD: https://www.google.ca/flights/?f=0&g...L485;sc=b;a=DL

You'd fly a domestic F seat red-eye over an angled flat with a good schedule? We live in different worlds.

But this is basically PR's standard price.

Wonder if DL would allow SDCs on this route to JFK-LAX-YVR.

You call a 3:30 AM arrival good schedule? We live in different worlds ;-).

The PR J product isn't great and involves middle seats, I'd also they their OTP isn't super reliable. The ETA into JFK isn't bad, for anyone not actually doing business, but coming back to YVR it's crazy, also, not daily.

I think that DL flight is seasonal for the summer (cruise season)? Had been looking at winter (skiing) fares and didn't see that flight. Of course a red eye in a standard domestic recliner is pretty much a no-go. I will not sleep.
CX and AC lie flats were $3k+ which is just dumb too. I think PE was in the $1.5k range, still a bit on the pricey side when you can get the premium J LAX/SFO fares around that price with advance planning. I guess we need B6 Mint to fly this route!

I'v done these DL flights YVR-NYC in those regional jets and it's painful, even in F. With one stop it's like a 9 hr trip. Once and done unfortunately.

I've flown PR Business Class many times. The seat is not "over angled". Even when I fly fully flat seats, I will angle the back up slightly... so the PR design is surprisingly comfortable.

I don't know what flight you're looking at. The PR flight departs YVR at 14:20 and arrives JFK 22:30. I'd prefer an hour or two earlier earlier, but the only other options are red-eyes and I haven't flown one of those since I was in college.

The return departs JFK at 12:15am and arrives in YVR at 3:30am, which is... suboptimal.

Yes, the return is terrible. I never had a reason to look at that flight so I missed that part.

I think the $940 USD Delta YVR-SEA-JFK fare is on lie flats on the 757 SEA-JFK portion, but not the cheaper $750 USD F fare. The Delta fare has more options for earning miles (Skyteam etc) where the PR fare doesn't.

I think the PR flight is great as others have mentioned, especially YVR-JFK. On the return it sort of sucks arriving at 3:30 am and has been riddled with delays.

Lucky did a great review JFK-YVR on PR back in March. He thought it was pretty good.
