Not keen on the 4 hour 734 JNB-NBO leg, I found an all 787 connection but it requires overnight at NBO. I've only stayed at city centre hotels in Nairobi, are there any recommendable NBO airport hotels? Thanks.
Never been there, but Lazizi Premiere looks nice:

Just in case you were not otherwise aware, the airline is in financial trouble.

Sorry, you're absolutely right. Here is a more up to date article on their financial predicament - I knew I had stumbled across news of their plight earlier this week. I guess, being in that part of the world, they are likely to be bankrolled by the government but better to be aware and check your travel insurance coverage before you book just in case.

I did JNB-NBO on the 734 last year and it wasn't horrible by any means. The cabin wasn't full and service was comparable to any US carrier on a 4 hour domestic flight. Overall, I found the service on KQ, while not up to the level of SQ or CX, to be quite earnest.

I don't know your flight times, but if it is during daylight, a window seat might be great over Tanzania. (My flight was at night so I missed views of Kilimanjaro)

Oh, yes! I quite agree.

But the flight is just after midnight, so a night flight, followed by 3 hours at NBO (JNB-NBO-LHR):
Kenya Airways 765 Dep: 12:55AM Arr: 6:00AM 4h 5m Boeing 737 Business (Z)
Layover in NBO 3h 20m
Kenya Airways 100 Dep: 9:20AM Arr: 4:15PM 8h 55m Boeing 787 Business (Z)
Just need to get The Boss's agreement before I book the 734.

Trust me it won't happen

that was very unlikely

If you get the B738 you'll get PTV, on the 737 it's only overhead screens, and even better at noon you'll get the B788
