Tunis Question: For anyone who stopped in Tunis for a day or two, which hotel did you stay in and what was it like? What are costs like in general (eating out, taxi etc)? How would you rate the 'hassle factor', say in comparison to Egypt, Morocco etc?

Hotel Africa - one of the cities best hotels at a reasonable price. Not quite the polish of a 5-star, but it's comfortable and couldn't be more central.

A tourists life is inexpensive.

No hassles: though airport taxi drivers can be a trial...

Stayed at the Sheraton. I found food to be cheap. Hassles, i had one guy that wanted to be my tour guide but a simple no was all it took.

I stayed at the Residence a few times, initially because we had a great corporate rate there. It's some 20 minutes from the city centre in a completely quiet beachside location, great facilities and service. I find Tunis much more pleasant than Cairo...it's comparable to Casablanca in many ways.
