From where to where and when?
This isn't as good as the 1.5K USD deals from Bangkok to Los Angeles, but this certainly isn't bad. Especially if it's easy to reach Colombo and/or you really need to get to Chicago.

Additionally, CMB/CNM/CAI have been having good QR J fare sales in the last year.
The example jiaogulan indicated, BKK-DOH-LAX, it was one of the more epic ones for $1400 to $1600 RT AI.
On "slightly more affordable" QR J fares, recently ARN-DOH-AKL was on sale for $1800 to $2000; that's over 20,000 BIS miles RT.
