Qatar are back with awesome offers in business on the world's longest flight. This is half the price of other competitors, with a wide variety of dates.
Seeing dates for summer all the way through to March of 2018 on GF and on QR website.
Their previous sale price was around $2600, so this is a $500 reduction on an already decent price. Enjoy.
And HFP, when you lift this deal, please be sure to credit.

I have always found it amusing for HFP to post the deals suspiciously soon after you post them on flyertalk.

thanks OP. been trying open jaw options, into Auckland, out of SYD or MEL but the price jumps a lot when I try that.

Unfortunately when blogs exist that solely feed off error fares and the like, this will always be a dirty industry I admire your honesty though!Originally Posted by godsavethepoints

Haven't pulled up the fare rules, but in my experience whenever it's AKL or SYD, it's more of a "before dates dry up" than the actual book by date that's at issue. Sorry that's not more helpful.Originally Posted by chris1979

booking class R
miles according to gcmap - about 24k
(depending on whether you fly from OSL or ARN or open jaw etc)
most airlines are not too generous with booking class R unless you are top tier with QR or AA
http://www.wheretocredit.com/english/qatar-airways/r
So,
unless you are top tier with AA or QR
or
you really want to go to NZ
or
you want to enjoy the (currently) longest flight...
you are getting about 6cpm (125%)

For those who are after a BA elite status - one leg would give you 160 tier points, so you could go from Bronze or even from zero to Silber by doing this one trip only.
(kinda weird considering how long DOH-AKL is, it's only 160 tier points... there should be more for such a long distance)
