China Eastern business JFK-TYO and other Japan $2400-$2500
Have been playing around with this and bought today. Found on google flights -- and passed to expedia.com for booking. Also found on ctrip.com but about US$100 more.
JFK-PVG-NRT, 12/10 returning HIJ-PVG-JFK, 1/1 -- US$2537.68. About $70 cheaper if RT TYO.
With what I was playing with it looked like last date to Asia was 12/10.
New 777-300 over the Pacific, 300-200 PVG-NRT and a 319 HIJ-PVG. Booked on expedia. TransPac in I, intraAsia in J. I'll post miles to DL.
Not quite as good as the fares from ORD last January.
I like the open jaw option so I won't have to backtrack to Tokyo on the return.
I tried to book it on the MU US site, but got only so far.
Seemed to be available to some other non-China Asian destinations beyond PVG as well.
Sorry if this is up somewhere, but I didn't find it.

This fare has been around for a while. It alternates between MU JFK-PVG-NRT and CA JFK-PEK-TYO.
I would avoid both as posters above have mentioned terrible food, along with annoying transit process. Although PEK is a bit better at T3, only need to pass immigration once.

I don't think I've seen the fares from JFK to Japan on MU as low as they are now.
