IG (Meridiana) JFK-PMO-MLA $809ow - Credit to BA/IB?

A bit off the beaten path:

Can jump off in Palermo or continue on to Malta:

https://www.google.com/flights/?f=0#...MLA1KM663;sc=b

Biz class review:

http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.c...usiness-class/

Credits to BA (125%)/IB (150%) I think:

http://www.wheretocredit.com/meridiana-fly/c

JFK-PMO 4,441 flown miles:

http://www.airmilescalculator.com/distance/jfk-to-pmo/

An interesting way to get to Sicily 😊👍🏻

Biz on name only, looks like a PE or slightly better product. But not biz unless you are comparing to circa 1990s products.

It says operated by Air Italy, so I wonder what that means it will be like. With the problems at Alitalia maybe Meridiana will end up getting a new lease of life

Has anyone successfully credited a Meridiana flight to their BA Avios account?

The BA website seems to indicate that you should earn miles, but not tier points. However, both Meridiana and BA are telling me the flights can't earn BA miles.

I flew in Business class (C and I) from JFK-NAP round-trip.

Meridiana acquired Air Italy in 2011. The company operates old 767 and 737, all in Meridiana livery (except perhaps a 767 still in Air Italy livery).
Meridiana is facing economic problems and is negotiating to be acquired by Qatar Airways.

Another airberlin and Etihad scenario maybe? Not to mention Alitalia.

Not exactly. Meridiana is a small regional and charter company owned by Karim Aga Khan IV (https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karim_Aga_Khan_IV), who always pays debts

The review from OMMAT sounds like the soft product is pretty business-esque, but the hard product is dated. Not a bad choice for cheap, especially if you can park miles somewhere.

Does the Aga Khan still own Meridiana?

Yes, back in April I flew MXP-CAI. Forgot I could credit Meridiana to BAEC so applied retrospectively through the website and the Avios posted a few days later.

I just wanted to followup and say I did successfully get my Meridiana flights to post to BA. It took a few months and some back and forth. Just make sure you save all your boarding passes, receipts, etc and the best thing to do is scan them to BA through their contact portal where you can attach documents. Calling didn't work well for me and when I just submitted a partner claim it was kicked back initially without much explanation. Their contact portal is great though...easy to use and a real person always responded within 24hrs with answers and/or requests for additional documents. Like I mentioned, you can get BA Avios for Meridiana flights but not tier points.

Sold 49% to QR in a deal that closed a couple months ago. (link to a story I wrote)
