QR J: LXR-BKK rt £580

I know ex-CAI has been all the rage since the devaluation of the Egyptian pound. If you can get to Luxor the deal gets much sweeter than ex-CAI.

https://www.google.com/flights/?curr...c=b;a=ONEWORLD

Many dates available, other destinations also available for a little bit more.

Anyone know if QR actively enhances security during the ground stop and boarding at airports that might be weak in their own security processes?

Good question.
I really don't think so, reason for me to avoid all ex Egypt routing regardless of the fare.

I flew ex-CAI with QR this Sept. The plane (with crew) does a quick-turn and the plane uses remote parking. No idea if that answers your questions fully, but you got an idea of the procedure

But you fly TK? The current security at IST is far worth than in CAI or LXR. Airport security there operates under international checks.

How is the current security at IST far worse than CAI?

I think he was commenting on the Istanbul Airport bombing combined with the other bombings around town. IMO - both are major security concerns and if luck is not on your side then regrets may arise. 99.999999% safe but .0000001% not so.

I personally have flown to / thru Egypt and Turkey and the security seems pretty tight to me. I have no real concerns flying to these countries. They are not in the same league as below.

I personally would not fly via/to Kabul, Baghdad, Damascas, Mogadishu

what silliness !

Qatar uses Terminal 1 at Cairo airport, together with British Airways and other airlines not members of Star Alliance.

ALL aircraft at T1 use remotely parking for the simplest of reasons: there are no contact stands .

Qatar does not do a "quick turn". Neither does British Airways - it stays for over 9 hours.

QR (plus BA and other carriers) will be moving from T1 to T2 (indeed, may already have moved). T2 is a new terminal, equipped with contact stands/airbridge: so QR passengers will now be able to enjoy direct boarding.

Lufthansa, Swiss and Austrian operate with EgyptAir and other StarAlliance carriers from T3. And yes, they use airbridges.

Thanks for your compliment

At least 2 of the 3 daily QR flight do a quick-turn, those planes stay on the ground just over an hour.
Indeed, there aren't any aviobridges so it remotely parked.
T2 opened a few months back, but no airlines have been shifted from T1 to T2 yet.

There are only three daily flights two days per week; the other five days there are only two daily flights.

Incorrect; the following airlines have already moved from CAI T1 to CAI T2 (some more than three months ago) - AT / BA / J9 / KU / RJ / SV.
