All staralliance C and D fares are upgradable, some additional booking class are also sometimes upgradable (like LH J). That's what I could read on several star members.

Excuse my ignorance, but which price of info is correct?

During the booking process I clicked on the specifics of the business flex conditions and it stated that both changes and cancellations were allowed and free of charge. However, upon purchase, it is showing as allowed with a €250 fee which suggests it's a business basic plus fare....?

I have no plans to change or cancel but be interested to know what fare I'm booked under (showing as D) and whether it's bus flex or bus basic plus?

Thanks,

You are on a restricted D-fare, booked in D but with restrictive conditions so €250 fee etc. Some kind of hybrid as explained above

Usually, D class is full flex. Even more usually, when there is FF in the fare basis, it is full flex. That's what the website uses to "brand" the various business class fares and 99% of the time it is correct. However here, LH screwed up completely, so you get D for half the usual P promo fare, and you get non flex P conditions as per the rules... even if the fare basis has FF and the booking class is D. Trust the rules (check on ITA to be sure) and not marketing blabla on the website.

I retrieved the Fare Rules from my Corpo Booking Tool:

16.PENALTIES
CANCELLATIONS

ANY TIME
CHARGE EUR 250.00 FOR CANCEL/NO-SHOW/REFUND.

EUR 250.00 it is then...

BTW. Ticket purchased... Nice price...

Skyteam JV still has similar fare (830 EUR + taxes) in the system.

Fare basis:
  • ILPR1ES5 (Alitalia)
  • ZLPR1ES5 (Air France, KLM, Delta)

Example: Routing via Los Angeles with MPM surchage

No stopover is permitted.

I just looked, still quite a few dates in August on Google Flights, hit booking KLM and all good $1314 USD and you can avoid Aero Mexico with the right dates

As mentioned in post #26, not exactly the same fare since it's limited to departures in Aug.

Was there any way to route the LH ones via the US and then onwards to MEX on UA?
