Great price although the longest flight is in 777 with the old business class (at the moment, at least).

Interesting. I find it a bit weird considering QR announced they were delaying DOH-AKL due to lack of planes (due to the A350 problems they're having). So if you're getting in, get in early and you might find yourself on the QR 380 (more comfortable J) to SYD before taking QF/LA across to AKL.

Though not perfect for BA TP - just 600 if I see that correct?
Does anyone know how realistic it is that the 777 is getting swapped to A350?

that is what i tried, i tried a few dates for akl-doh-fra, it always says "The requested cabin class is full or not available in at least one of the options listed below. (5003)"
but i can get it priced out for round trip fra-akl for these dates at higher price.

Where do you see these prices? The lowest price I can get ex-DE to AKL is around 4.500€ - on ITA, Google Flights and QR website.
I also see no direct connections between DOH and AKL - they all go via Australia.
At the DE discount page (http://www.qatarairways.com/de/de/special-offers.page) I do see the offer at around 1.700€ but when I click through I get the above price and connection.
How did you book this?

Works great for me on the QR website, shows up as biz promo fare: Start Fra, return to PSA: e.g. 25th Dec until 13th Jan: 1436 Euro.
You can ignore the cabin class message and just click through.
Can't get the very cheap one so far on QR.
