NYC is an interesting deal bc you can fly on a 747 from LAX-JFK which comes out to 250 a person.

Los Angeles ~$10,000 AUD
New York City ~ $11,000 AUD
These are about 5 times the equivalent Y prices, in other words you could each stretch out over 5 economy seats for that price.
The Hawaii flight is flaky and you may be re-routed on the awful JetStar service.
The LAX flights are ok, though like UA Qantas has problems maintaining the schedule for days/weeks after any mech problem.

I think paying 11k AUD for 2 to go to NYC a great deal and would pay it.
When travelling I would normally pay AUD$14,000+ for the 2 of us to go to NYC so with this deal it is saving $3000+
