Forgive my poor skills at decoding fare rules - does 10 mean that routing AMS>MAD>LHR>Buenos Aires>Rio is acceptable? London> Buenos Aires on British Airways?

Yes that's what it seems to say

Except that the Iberia rules require travel on an IB-marketed flight. I'm not sure if an IB codeshare exists on LON-EZE

Looks like it's only for 2015. Everything next year pushes the price up to €1850 which is also pretty good but obviously not as great as this fare.

Nice one. Is it possible to UUA an IB coded BA flight if booked on BA stock?

ITA

I am keen on this but I cant get an ITA routing to come up with anything other that AMS-MAD_GIG for the low price.

I was looking at 24/25 Nov for about a week, can anyone assist with trying to get via BA and as a bonus the stop in EZE would be a real winner.

Thanks

There are two problems:
1. You can upgrade IB but not in "I" class (has to be "D" or higher).* http://www.britishairways.com/en-gb/...ing-with-avios

That said, the same rule applies to AA flights on BA stock but people have succeeded in upgrading using Avios from I class to Z (First). Probably no one knows the rules very well.

2. The codeshare does not have redemption buckets available for you to upgrade into. So they have to rebook you onto the prime flight code and then do the upgrade. However the fare here is only valid for IB marketed flights, so the rebooking won't succeed at the revalidation stage. But some people have reported in connection with AA that the BA Germany office has sufficient technical power to achieve this.

So the answer is "maybe".

*But thinking about it, IB has no First so it must have been deliberately intended for rebooking on codeshares. Either that or no one noticed at the time the policy was written.

Sorry, bit of a senior moment.

Code:
IF THE FARE COMPONENT INCLUDES TRAVEL VIA EACH
   TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR
THEN THAT TRAVEL MUST BE ON
ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING
ANY IB FLIGHT OPERATED BY IB
ANY IB FLIGHT OPERATED BY LA
ANY IB FLIGHT OPERATED BY AA
ANY IB FLIGHT OPERATED BY JJ.
BA is not in the list!

Likewise PIKnic, I am having difficulties hitting the €1230 except for AMS-MAD-GIG around mid November. Will keeping trying and post back if I get more success
