Would it be worthwhile for you to try to nab a reduced mileage award ticket BNA-SJC (if you have the requisite CC)? The routings aren't ideal, but with that deal you have 10-15k econ tickets or 32-40k first to position yourself. I would find that worthwhile, although our mileage run goals are probably pretty different!

Please be gentle with me!

Oh - I'm talking about this whole reduced mileage award program: https://www.aa.com/i18n/AAdvantage/r...age-awards.jsp

Just wanted to thank the OP and others. Completed my LAX-JFK-MIA-PTY with just one night in PTY. Quite the trip as I had to position PHL-LAX but got all the miles I needed. No problems with immigration/customs, even when explaining a mileage run.

Nice, same here, though I didn't need to position. I routed on several different A/C - 738(old), 321T, 757, 738(new/38D), 767 ---

In business class, I would rate these aircraft as follows:
763
321T
752
738(38D)
738(old)

The food on the 321Ts was much better than the 763, but I much preferred the aisle-access 763 seats, even though there was no IFE.

Ironically, the worst segment was the international MIA-PTY segment, as AA seems to fly the old 738s on this route...

My only regret is not booking one of these trips for 2016. Oh well, hopefully it comes around again. At 450 US for 28540 RDM, this flight clocked in at 1.5CpRDM.. and around 4.5CpEQM.

Not to go OT, but despite the gnashing of teeth over the FFP changes, I imagine that opportunities like this will happen in the last half of 2016 and will allow those who follow FT closely to take advantage.

Except that at the maximum EXP level you will only get a quarter of the RDMs -great for requalifying but not much else.

This deal is still open. You have to play with the dates a tad, but I was having best luck in/out of Vegas, rather than lax (connecting in LAX, of course).

Can someone confirm if I'm calculating everything right? All these miles are from GCMAP.

LAS-LAX 236(500) (P)
LAX-JFK 2,475 (I)
JFK-MIA 1,089 (A)
MIA-PTY 1152 (I)
PTY-MIA 1152 (I)
MIA-MCO 192(500) (A)
MCO-DCA 759 (A)
DCA-JFK 213(500) (A)
JFK-LAX 2475 (I)
LAX-LAS 236(500) (A).

Total EQM = 1000+4950+2178+2304+2304+1000+1518+1000+4950+1000 = 22,204.
Total RDM = 750+3712.5+1633.5+1728+1728+750+1138.5+750+3712.5+ 750+1000(lax-jfk plat bonus in+1,000(jfk-lax plat bonus in I) = 18,653 RDM.

FYI this earns 43K redeemable miles for Platinum members and a staggering 57K for EXP.

This also gets 20K Points for elite qualifying.

Also available to BOG for same price practically.

Nice route, I was looking for ex-SFO as well, but was not able to pull the trigger before the deal vanished :/

36 minute connection at JFK seems a bit short though?

How do you end up with 43k?

With my calculations (miles flown * 2.5), you end up with 24k miles?

For the extra RDM, make sure the TCONs aren't in I or else it's only an extra 1k per flight.

Any tips on how to force this without pricing going nuts? Right now I have one on hold that is I (JFK/LAX segs + MIA/PTY) and A JFK-MIA.

If you want the cheap(er) fares, it's not going to price that low. It's an extra 1-200 per segment to try and get D fares from what I've seen.

I'm also going to suggest this get merged with the other PTY thread.

Hello all, playing around as well but unable to price it... I'm trying to do a

UVF-MIA-LAX or SFO-JFK-PTY-JFK-LAX or SFO-MIA-UVF

This route would be a perfect gift for our anniversary therefore 1 or 2 nights in every city more than welcome!!
