Found similar for even cheaper.

SYR-LAX First, $875
Layover in MSP
Delta.

(Price goes down 10 dollars if you do an open-jaw SYR-LAX SFO-SYR)

Dates: July 8-July 21

Pretty terrible though, because the first 2.5 hours is in a MD-90 with no TV, lie flat, and pretty much terrible flight. Then the 767 is only for 4 hours, less "fun per mile".

This is not NYC, but as someone who usually takes a bus to NYC then flies out of JFK, shockingly cheap. Someone could, shockingly, do the reverse!

Greyhound for 50 RT from NYC-SYR, plus this flight. You get trancon for $925.

But again, unless you're trying to do first class as frugally crazy as I would, this wouldn't be the best option for anyone.

Yup. The deal is actually pretty terrible. I'm just posting it for anyone interested, but the value of first class is pretty diminished.

As the flight deal says, "just because it's a great fare doesn't mean it's a great deal".

I wouldn't even book it myself. But, for anyone interested, its oddly cheaper.

Before booking on DL, make sure to look at the DL forum for the threads on DL substituting in non-flat beds on these routes. Not very often, but it's being done with little or no notice, so you may not find out in time to rebook.

Well, thats a relief

FWIW, secondary markets like SYR you can get sale fares on DL in F fairly often for under $1000 round trip cross country. I paid under $800 for a round trip SFO-RDU last year via ATL booked about 6 weeks in advance. Ditto for SMF-JFK via SLC.

about the same as UA is substituting P.S. planes ... not very often. Pretty safe bet to book this IMO
