This thread is to discuss the historically annual premium class fare sales that occur for travel (mostly TATL) during the US Thanksgiving holiday period.

Q: When is Thanksgiving? What travel dates are covered in the Thanksgiving Day sales?
A: Thanksgiving in the United States is observed on the 4th Thursday of November.
The week of Thanksgiving and the weekend after are considered to be the busiest period for US domestic air travel due to large numbers of people traveling to spend the holiday with loved ones. As a result business travel demand, especially for international business travel, is unusually weak. This drop in demand is believed to be the origin for the Thanksgiving holiday international business class fares.
Typically these fares are offered for travel outbound from the US in the period from the Sunday before to the day after Thanksgiving. Return travel is usually valid for the day after Thanksgiving to the following Wednesday.

A: Sometime in the summer with an average start date of Aug 4.

That so-called "sale" was nothing I could find ex-LAX. I expect a biz-class sale sometime between August and October for Thanksgiving weekend. That is the pattern. I would expect a rt price of $2400 from the west coast.

They are not regular off season prices, take a look at EF and it shows the ZP63US fare has a very defined travel period around Thanksgiving and Christmas. UA has a similar PQNC3S and PQNC4S fare for those travel periods too so this is supposed to be the sale - however the Thanksgiving levels this year are not the crazy ones we usually see. The Christmas ones appear roughly the same as last year with the exception of a few destinations.

yes they are. x-mas and summer same as Thanksgiving. Regular off-season and yes, I have an EF subscrption.
It is not uncommon to see these early in the game and then my early August prices are coming down to what we consider Thanksgiving fares. It's been like this fare the past several years.

It seems Thanksgiving airfare deals are popping up. For example: BOS-JFK-MAD-JFK-BOS, $2088 ai, 11/26-12/1.
Ideally, a good deal in J to Europe would be less than $2K but not sure if that is achievable considering the winter season capacity cuts.

that's a terrible Thxgiving fare. $1500 or nothing. Boo if this is all they will offer this year ... won't be going for $2k that's for sure. Just $500 less than x-mas, they must be joking. My guess is this will be coming down further as planes remain empty.
