If you go through immigration in Phnom Penh, they'll do both hands.

This, and possibly a request for a "tip" at passport control upon entering. When departing, there's a funny sign at passport control saying "Nothing to Pay Here".

Gone through PNH a million times and have yet to experience this. Overland checkpoints are horrible though.

There were finger print scanners set up at TPE and KUL when I went through during the last few days. Didn't get asked to use them.

Fingerprint scanners are in use at RDN. That was quite unexpected.

Also, while this is not an Asian country, UK visitors using a visa to enter are fingerprinted (not those using visa waiver to enter).

Sounds like the disease at KUL is spreading to the rest of Malaysia.

This occurs at LGK as well unfortunately.

They were fingerprinting (index fingers only) at ICN on Sunday night.

Not exactly. One must be fingerprinted in order to get a UK visa.

At the UK border, the fingerprint scanner is usually used to verify that 2 fingers used to obtain the visa are the same 2 fingers entering the UK.

It's a disease if they do it in Asia, but not if they do it in the US? Not logical, Mr Spock.

Uhh, Spiff is one of the most vocal opponents (on FT at least) of this practice by his country.

OK. Good to hear it, but some of his fellow-citizens are not, and see nothing wrong with the US policy of fingerprinting "foreigners" but not its own citizens.

Some of those people get quite indignant at some non-US country fingerprinting US citizens. I saw it in Japan, where some US citizens protested loudly at being fingerprinted, not realizing that, in that situation, they were the foreigners.

As was mentioned, I strongly condemn US "security" procedures, especially treating our guests like criminals.

The scumbags in the US government who mandated and continue this harassment belong in prison.

I've stopped visiting Japan and all other countries who treat guests like criminals.
