I started traveling with the carnival when I gave up flying (and my real job). Bed of pins and needles (and nails).

{ob. joke}

Given how air travel security is these days, the bed of nails was probably less painful.

By acknowledging that you have just negated any valid reason for the ID checks at checkpoints.

Thank you for confirming what we all know.

US Airport "Security" SUCKS

I stumbled upon this site today and couldn’t resist posting some comments about Michael’s experience.

(1) The comments from Star_World seem a bit disproportionately in support of GOVT intrusion into our daily lives and somewhat at odds with the spirit of this thread – documenting GOVT abuse in the name of Airport “Security”. It seems almost like what the Free Republic folks call a “troll” – someone POSING as a supporter who really isn’t ….

(2) One thing that always sends me ballistic is when someone arbitrarily and without prior notice, changes the rules of some underway activity I am already engaged in. Without exception, this sort of change has made participation in the particular activity less appealing if not downright obnoxious.

I think that is what blew Michael’s fuse on that particular day. After four+ years of schlepping through “Security” at various airports without a hitch, one day some TSA moron(s) wake up on the wrong side of their bed(s) and turn their procedures even more negative towards Michael. And so yet another Well Meaning American Citizen, just trying to do his daily job with as little interference from “his” GOVT as possible, is suddenly faced with even MORE personal intrusion than he was already putting up with.

(3) The present state of US Airport “Security” parallels, to a “T”, the old parable about cooking a frog. Starting with simple metal detectors (coooool, pleasant water); through X-Raying everything, removing “minor” articles of clothing like belts, shoes and jewelry followed by “non-insulting” pat downs (warm water); on to Draconian restrictions about carry on substances like breast milk??? YOU’VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME - where is the OUTRAGE!!!(water now simmering); and now the NudieScope, removing sweatshirts to reveal bras/breasts and groping/massaging of boobs and genitalia (boiling water).

(4) I just voted for legalization of pot here in the Kalifornia Asylum for Mentally Disturbed Libtards – something I NEVER thought I’d do. I have never smoked or consumed the stuff and probably never will. But in these lunacy filled days, I take EVERY chance to reduce the intrusion of GOVT into our lives. The damage done by overzealous Law Enforcement Personnel every day under color of their decades long and pretty much unsuccessful Drug “Wars” to both individual lives and our collective liberties is just unacceptable any longer.

NEVER, EVER vote for ANY incumbent in ANY position for longer than two terms and DO NOT vote for them if they return for more public slop in another position. NEVER, EVER approve any ballot measure that seeks to pass yet ANOTHER bond issuance for yet another wonderful project. NEVER, EVER approve ANY additional regulation or law further restricting our God given liberties. NEVER, EVER allow officials to make it easier to raise old taxes or to add new ones (or to disguise them with perfume). ALWAYS approve ANY measure that restricts or reduces GOVT ability to mess with your life. We already have WAY too many laws and regs on the books which are SELECTIVELY Enforced by “your” GOVT (eg immigration) to further their ends, not yours.

(6) I recently heard the best description and indictment of TSA’s abhorrent procedures from the former head of the Israeli version of TSA: “The US has NO Airport Security System. What the US has in place at this time is an Air Traveler Annoyance System.” I thank God every day that I am one former business traveler who no longer has to put up with these atrocities.

To Michael and any other Flight Crew Members with the cajones to draw that line and say:
=>> NO – today I WILL NOT give up ONE more of my personal freedoms!
=>> Today I will NOT allow ANY more violation of my rights!
=>> Today, I will no longer participate in and support such dehumanizing, mistreatment from those who have sworn to protect me from just such treatment.
I say, with heartfelt thanks – BRAVO it will take true patriots like yourself to put the brakes on this slide into Despotism we are presently on.

As for you frequent fliers, I pray you grow some spine (including Star_World) and stand up to these GOVT Thugs as well. If you don’t draw the line NOW, with the pot already boiling, you will be cooked before you finally decide that the water has gotten too “warm”. If you allow the GOVT to use you as unpaid actors in TSA Porn Clips, allow TSA “Officers”, to at will, fondle and massage your wife/girlfriend/colleague’s breasts and genitalia, allow those same creeps to fondle your own genitals and molest our children with the same techniques, then what will you allow next and who will you allow to perform these obscene activities – School Officials, Workplace Management, Govt Officials protecting the local seat of government, your local Banking Officials, not to mention other modes of “public” transportation like trains, buses and local commuter rail?

WAKE UP America before it’s too late …………………

Many developments in the works. Another pilot has joined the club - canceling a USAir A320 flight in the process (though USAir hasn't divulged the real reason for the cancellation). Stay tuned on that and the other one - media contact the Rutherford Institute regarding them as well.

I've just launched FedUpFlyers.org. It's still very much a work in progress but will be the go-to place on the Internet for information, perspective, and assistance on this. Please send others there - especially if they might need help or guidance in resisting the authoritarian state and TSA's abuse.

Things are happening fast now. I'm having a hard time keeping up!

Does this mean that the flight got canceled due to lack of available flight crew? That surely ought to get the airlines' attention, if they get a spate of flights canceled due to flight crew protesting TSA.

Yes, that's exactly what it means. Right now the airlines think they're the ones trying to get the employees attention by lashing out at this guy (and me, but they've since backed off for the time being). They just do not see what's really going on here. Unfortunately, airline managers are cut from the same cloth as the decision makers behind the atrocities currently being committed in our airports.

When a person's ego surpasses a certain threshold, it can take a while for reality to sink in. Sometimes it never does - it just washes them away. That's what we're dealing with here.

I wonder how long it might be before we reach the point where flight crews and the traveling public refusing the pornoscopes and the genital molestations, number enough to force a stop to this crap. We are definetly heading in that direction and I feel we are closer than we were even a few months ago.

How much longer is it going to take?

Many have asked what they can do to help me resist the tyranny that crouches at our national doorstep. What really can be done? Above all there is one thing and, to be honest, you’re probably not going to like it... Please continue reading on the Fed Up Flyers web site.

Please share the article, if you are so inclined.
