British Columbia MLA's breast pump deemed security risk

A member of the British Columbia Legislative Assembly was denied boarding on a flight yesterday because she had her breast pump with her:

British Columbia MLA's breast pump deemed security risk

Politician denied boarding with device in carry-on baggage

Government may fear her pointed attacks, but it was airline security officials who barred British Columbia New Democrat MLA Jenny Kwan from boarding a flight to Kamloops on Tuesday when her breast pump was deemed a security risk.

"It was a potential weapon of mass destruction," said the Vancouver-Mount Pleasant MLA, who was prevented from attending NDP caucus meetings in Kamloops. "It's a breast pump with specialized ice packs."

Another case of insanity from the CTSA. At least it is not just the TSA in the USA that have no common sense.

When Canadian airport security people do something dumb, the extent of their stupidity far exceeds our worse TSA nightmares.

Didn't the YVR braintrust recently either ban or try to confiscate an Olympic competitor's medals?

Must be mercury poisoning from eating all that west coast fish.

Kudos to her for not pulling a Do You Know Who I Am, and exposing this stupidity.

Seems Canadian TSO's and US TSO's are infected with the same brain waisting disease.

Pretty sad statement in my opinion!

From the article cited above:

Security workers suggested checking the unit as luggage or leaving the ice packs behind.
Good goddess, do they not have explosives trace detection?!

Riiight... and the TSO who brought a gun to work... or the one who ordered a woman to remove her nipple ring with a pair of pliers... they were regular old geniuses weren't they?

Must be the leaked radiation from American WMD factories.

They can't, lucky for her. Although technically the breast pump is allowed, so you never really know...

Don't be too hard on CTSA-they no doubt had help. This is what happens when Kippie sends the smurfs on the road
