Rubbish!

The TSA forces the airlines to select people for haraSSSSment. That's not one foot, that's 'the whole nine yards'.

If the TSA were destroyed and replaced with private security contractors without unnecessary government interference, haraSSSSment would be eliminated.

Of course! Airlines' profits are down thanks in no small part to many people choosing not to fly for the harassment they receive at the hands of the scummy, un-American agency called TSA. That's why airlines are doing ala carte pricing on many items. Plus there's supply and demand on the water. Lies about liquids mean that travelers can't take their own water airside. That's a profit opportunity that is the direct result of disgusting and stupid TSA policies.

TSA has a cause and it still stands because the threat is still there! I am not saying that we have not caused our own enemies, I am not saying that people are treated with the respect the deserve at all times, I am saying that the threat is there and while SSSS is annoying it can be removed easily, most of the time, it is necessary. It is a rule just like speeding, robbing, or carrying a concealed weapon.
No TSA employee had a gun put to his/her head and was told that they would now be engaging in un-American harassment of the traveling public. That's a voluntary choice.

TSA has a cause: Workfare.

by the way a majority of the public (probably >90%) will never ever be able to get ahold of anything military grade as those are highly restrictied.

Then explain me this since you are appearently a fan of TSA. why should a agency be kept around when they cant accomplish there original mission (fail rates on red team test >50%) but yet keeps on creeping its mission and violates passengers consitutional rights on a regular basis, with stupid rules with no basis in reality that isnt backed by physics or chemistry

BTW even if TSA had been inplace prior to 9/11 they still would not have been able to prevent it.

TSA itself does not matter to me but screening in general makes me feel more safe. I am a fan of proactiveness(is that a word? you get the idea). If it wasn't TSA it would be someone else and they would be equally hated.

I have to admit that while with my research into explosives some are quite scary and do show up in a variety of ways and yes taking away souviner snow globes because they have water is a bit much, but you try doing the job then hate them.

Alot of people are confused about alot of the policies and I have to wonder if the TSO's are getting the same mixed messages and are just as confused, which is a whole other topic.

I worked for a private contractor screening before TSA was thrown together and people in general are simply mean and the job has got to suck now as it did then, but it is a job and they go home at the end of the day just as miserable as everyone else who hates their job.

Really? Maybe I just get lucky because every time I have asked it was done, then again I do not fly very much and I do not fly Delta if at all possible because I do not like their planes...well the planes I have been on I did not like.

If you want to feel safe, I suggest Xanax, Valium, or cannabis. If you want to actually be safe, completely destroying TSA and using private contractors without government interference will eliminate the need to use feel-safe drugs.

Feel free to share with the class. I've done my research and found no evidence of any credible explosive that can be created airside from stable precursors that are not detectable by ETP/ETD. What have you found?

The policies are not confusing. They're stupid. Big difference.

TSA employees should hate their job and understand why the traveling public hates their agency. TSA "leadership" is anything but and the policies are stupid and un-American. I certainly understand the contempt and hatred many people have for the TSA: the TSA brought it on themselves.

About the badge numbers: at the time of the writing, there were numbers on their nameplates, a.k.a. badges. Hence the term "badge number."

Welcome to FlyerTalk.
I know that there were numbers on the badge but the numbers are for TSA uniform ordering and another company takes care of that, if you called TSA they would have no idea who's badge that was simply by the number ont he nameplate. Now if you got the airport specific badge number or their government badge number, the one with their picture on it, then you could probably get some where. I know this because I asked because I wanted to write a letter of praise for one in DFW and he explained it to me so I take it to be true because he wanted the praise.

Do you also wave a SIDA badge or similar when asking that haraSSSSment be removed?

Congratulations, you're in the TSA target audience.

Because, with them, it's all about FEELING safe, not actual security. Want proof?

Read this.

Then read this.

Then this.

If those articles don't prove a consistent failure by the TSA to keep us safe, then read this article, where even the GAO says we are no safer with the TSA.

Okay, then what were the numbers on the nameplate for, then?

No thanks, I like being naive.

Military grade stuff, I do not know the name off hand. However this was dismissed earlier because it is hard to obtain, hard not impossible and yeah an ETD would detect it if it were inspected. Big if.

Can't think of an argument, but I do not agree.

So you wish that every TSO to hate their job and you wish them upon them because they are working to feed their family or because they are working to pay bills to keep their home or maybe because they are working to get their foot into a better government job? That is hateful good sir

um...the answer was there...for the uniform ordering company. I am not going to argue this because I do not know for sure but I was told that by a TSA employee.

So what your saying is that you would be ok with someone with a badge showing up to your house turning it inside out, and causing lots of damage, just because something might be there thats not quite right. if thats the case please post your home address and those with "badges" will take care of the rest. this is a example of how TSA violates the bill of rights. I dont have a problem with security that uses common sense and reality to set standards, but TSA does not use any logic or common sense its all on gut feeling an knee jerk reaction. Admin search my arse full on violation of the bill of rights and constitution.

yes some explosives are scary, but most people cant get them at all. the explosives that TSA say are so dangerous, are unstable to the point that they would go off before ever getting to the airport.

FYI the london plot is not viable, even the evidence in the trial says that as they had to use a robotic arm to mix teh stuff because the volatility was so bad and was a hazard to a EOD specialist. Then there is the strict temperature requirements(a lot of ice ie more then the plane carries) to mix the items together and then the time needed (many hours), which will be given away by the smell of the chemicals.

I have a extensive working background in chemistry and physics due to the nature of my job. If you want to see something really shocking and potentially life threatening come on down because i will rock your world. heck i dont even need 3oz do the job either i can get it done in about a ounce and half (50cc).

if you hate your job find another one, because what you do is un-american and in my eye treason.

Let me get this straight.

You're saying, with a straight face, that the number on the nameplate, next to the name of the TSAer, was on public display for nothing more than ordering uniforms?

You see, that's the kind of vague "evidence" that the TSA tries to snow the traveling public with all the time. Were the puffers in use 100%, then there would be a high rate of explosives precursor detection. That rate is considerably less with the stupid liquids idiocy in place right now.

You might want to think of one if you're going to back up your opinions.

To me, hateful is willfully destroying others' civil liberties for no good reason.

Is the TSA the only job available to these people? I think not.

un-American Workfare is not a good reason for a TSA employee being told "Oh, that's ok. You can have my liberty. I wasn't using it anyway."

TSA employees should understand that with every ID they check, every bottle of water they confiscate, every shoe they x-ray, and every boarding pass they examine that they are destroying part of the United States.

So, yes, TSA employees should hate their jobs or better yet leave them.

I sometimes think that TSA employees should have to take a mandatory trip to Ben Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv. They can see how polite, friendly, organized, and quick it is to clear security in perhaps the strictest airport in the world... I'm not talking about the profiling stuff; just their attitude.

http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/sto...-24331,00.html

According to this, you do need to take off shoes at Ben Gurion until this device was used. The article says the Ben Gurion shoe detector does not detect the presence of exlosives.

I got the extra treatment in a private room at TLV because of my frequent flyer award. They did not understand the concept. Everything was fine until they asked why I only stayed 3 days. They immediately became suspicious upon the mention of ff award and directed me to the line to partially remove my pants. Funny, they didn't look inside my shoe.
