Interesting Item TSA Gave Me Grief For Due to New Liquid/Gel Ban

Being the safe person I am in addition to being the "player" that I am, when travelling for leisure I sometimes carry condoms with a spermicidal lubricant with me in my carry-on. This morning when going through the checkpoint at BWI, as I was selected for secondary screening, they deemed that item to contain liquid / gel substance because of the spermicidal lubricant. I'm all about safety (both in the air and in the bed) and think that this might be going a little bit too far.

well, seems to fit with the administration's plan of Abstinence before marriage. BushCo were never big condom fans. "Abstinence-only education"

Wonder what they plan on doing with all the confiscated condoms...save them, blow them up, and use them as ornaments for the office Xmas tree?

I guess that sort of dampens the concept of "layover."

I suspect they will be adding them to the duty free booze, porno DVDs and cash they make from selling computers, cameras and other items from checked baggage and having a big party with hookers. Because homeland security is important business in the hands of professionals.

Given the mentality coming from HQ, I say send them all to DC....they can put them on their heads. Starting with Chertoff and Hawley.

Water baloons, of course. No wait ... that would require a liquid.

Great 10,000th post. ^^

I wonder what the TSA will do with my gel-coated disposable tootbrushes. You can't even see that they have gel on the bristles.

So besides picking up toiletries, cosmetics etc at the local airport for free, now there'll be condoms too. Sounds like someone can open a CVS/DuaneReade/Walgreens without having to order inventory.

Your tolerance is saint-like. If this is just "a little bit too far," I'd like to know what "way too far" looks like!

I would offer to open the condom packages, wipe off the lubricant and then take the unused condoms with me. Even if I threw them out later, I would do all that just to send a message that these people are freakin' idiots.
