Can One Opt-Out of Body Scanners at SNN airport in Ireland?

I have read that SNN has been trialing a new security checkpoint that is supposed to comply with both US and EU regulations. Since it now includes body scanners, does anyone know if one can opt-out (Ireland is part of the EU)?

Also, prior to this, I have flew from SNN using preclearance without any body scanner, just being required to take off one's shoes. Is adding body scanners a new requirement for preclearance airports?

Opt outs are permitted by EU law throughout the EU, so they also apply to SNN.
