Went thru security around 7:15 for a DL flight at term H.
No body scanners in use at the time -- just the regular metal detector. The surprising thing was that there was no line -- I went immediately to the TSA agent who checks ID, then on to the bags screening conveyor belt without a wait. (TSA staff on duty were particularly polite.)
Due to a DL mechanical issue, I ended up switching to an AA flight a couple of hours later. So went through security again, this time term D priority lane (near desk #2). There is an L3 ProVision MMW there, which I've been through before. But for some reason, it was not in use this morning. Everyone just went through the magnetometers.
So wondering why the MMW not in use this morning.
(The politics of all the heat in the media? Appropriately trained staff not available? Expecting larger crowds bcz of the holiday?)

I'm not too concerned about the Skylink additional time but thanks for the tip on the routing as I very rarely have to use Skylink.
My concern was with bag re-routing as I wasn't familiar with how AA sorted bags at all. 99% (est) of the time, a passenger would be dropped off at the correct terminal for a departing flight and the bag "shouldn't" have to travel too far to get into the correct sort. I have been a victim of the always varying "your bag must be here 40/45/50 minutes early to be placed on your flight" procedure that AA has.
Sorry to digress this into an AA situation. Please return to DFW appropriate talk!
Some MCO info and a request for UK airport NoS info
MCO is already on the list, but this is what I experienced: I went through MCO the middle of last month and they were announcing that they had rigged the WTMD to occasionally go off for no reason to randomly select for the NoS.
I'll be flying to Wales on business in the moderately near future, LHR and LGW are both listed as having the NoS. The UK has no opt-out. I want to avoid the NoS if at all possible.
Does anyone have experience with the UK airports in the area?
If I wind up connecting through LHR or LGW to another airport which doesn't have the NoS; Will I have to go through the NoS if I am going to or coming from an international flight?
I'm not as concerned about the US airports. I'll just have them touch my "junk" as it seems to be more of a punishment for them than for me. I'm just concerned about the no opt-out NoS policy in the UK.
Question for those who went through LAX in the last week or so: Are they using the NoS as primary at the T4 AA F/J/elite line? When I went through a month or so ago they were only used on the Y line, but I'm curious if that's changed.
First of all I've read the post here before and most of you really rock. Thanks for all of the info. I fly more that most people I know - since I work about 400 miles from home - but NOWHERE near what most of you fly.
I am usually the most unlucky person I know, so not expecting tomorrow to be very pleasant. 2.5 weeks ago I don't recall any issues at IAD or CLE. But knowing my luck and the crowds normally flying on this day, I am not hopeful.
I will be going through IAD. I know the 3 gates in CLE and that you can technically go through any of them to catch any gate. But how about IAD?
I am flying UAL - so the far end, I believe to the east end of the main terminal and downstairs for security. (and then what 10 escalators, a train and a hike?
My questions are the nudeoscopes at that C/P and are there options - alternative C/P's??
Ironically I intended to fly in my VB shorts and a tank top - but not sure if that will make the TSO single me out?
I walked all terminals on Thursday, 11/18. D has them at all 3 checkpoints. C has them at all 3 checkpoints, but they were not being used. A,B, and E were metal only. Very easy to use SkyLink to get from one terminal to another, 5 minutes at the most.

Primary on the evening of Nov 02 (though a fellow traveler who asked questions about the scanner was sent through WTMD... )
... I just read that AMS (need to change here) now has NoS installed (MMW, at least) - I hope that we can stay in the transit area - at least that's how it was when I was at AMS last, about 15 years ago... Does anybody have insight on AMS?

I last went through AMS to USA last christmas (about a week before the christmas day bomber), so I am thinking things have maybe changed.
You might want to read my report of AMS (flying to Asia, not the US) in April 2010 at this thread: WBI at AMS - some observations
Short summary:
Security at each gate (for int'l flights) with WBI at each security checkpoint.
MMW - so no ionising radiation
stick-figure display - so no nudie pics
reasonable setup for controlling your belongings - so less chance of wallet/laptop theft
Not clear how they deal with "anomalies".
For flights to the US, it's possible that there will be two WBI machines rather than one WBI and one WTMD as I experienced.
Bottom line - high likelihood of being WBI'ed, but without many of the downsides we object to here.

If you notice any airports missing, or any incomplete information, please send me a PM so I can fix it! I've also included a glossary of terms found in the list, below.
LAX - T1 (US & WN) -- T3 (AS,VX) T4 (AA), T5 (DL,AM), T6 (CO) right side of C/P BKSX Primary, T7 (UA) Left Lane - TBIT has 1 BKSX at both C/Ps
1. On LAX T4, is it all lanes?
2. Traveling with wife and child, is there a "family" lane with no scanners, with just the traditional Metal detector?
3. Were arriving 4AM december 17th, will checkpoint at T4 even be open? Thanks

Today Nov.20 about 1 pm went trough security check in LAS, T1, to D gates, 1-st class lane. As far as I could see all lanes had MMW installed but none of them seemed to be in use, just old good metal detectors. I was not groped. At this time airport was not overcrowded and security checks went very quickly.
Just passed through the D-gates about a half hour ago and saw the same thing...MMW was in place but not in use.
If the WTMD goes off, you get your freedom grope. Watched as an old man who told them before he walked through that it would go off got directed to a seat for the grope. To the screener's credit, he explained the process each step of the way and did not seem to be as umm, touchy, as some are prone to be.
Generally speaking, LAS seemed to have moved as LAS D-gate screening always tends to do for the late-night flights.
Just passed thru Atlanta airport security at 5am, North checkpoint. They are only using the metal detector. Xray machine turned off. Yea!
15-20 minute wait time.

Policy in UK if you are selected to go through one of those machines you have 2 options put up and shut up or don't fly. Hubby got 'selected' at Heathrow in May and then they still patted him down afterwards and the other elderly man behind him. Women that have refused to go through them have been escorted out of the airport and not allowed to fly.
