Secure Flight the problem for a 6 year old?

http://www.fox8.com/news/wjw-news-we...,1122601.story

Excerpt:

"She's been flying since she was two-months old, so that has not been an issue," said Alyssa's dad. "In fact, we had traveled to Mexico in February and there were no issues at that time."

According to the Transportation Security Administration, Alyssa never had any problems before because the Secure Flight Program just began in June for all domestic flights. A spokesperson will only say, "the watch lists are an important layer of security to prevent individuals with known or suspected ties to terrorism from flying."

Remember: "There are no children on the no-fly list."

But her name will likely stay on the list and as for the next time she flies, the FBI says they'll rely on the common sense of the security agents.
Laugh of the day.

This is the the first of many, many issues we will be hearing about.

After more than four years, TSA has finally caught up with the fact that she has been flying since before she was in her Terrible Two's.

Wasn't Secure Flight supposed to solve this problem by adding BIRTHDATES?

And have you read the comments with that article? There are at least three people who think security was slack for letting her on the plane when she's on the no-fly list. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!

People like that are why the nude-o-scopes will never be eliminated.

I understand that she's only 6, but she's on the no-fly list for a reason... so why was she still allowed to fly? Why did security allow her to fly? Regardless of whether they think she is a threat, for one reason or another, the FBI thinks she is. That has to count for something! I don't feel safe knowing that security at the airport can pick and choose who is allowed to fly even if their name is on the list!

Perhaps we should stop pretending that the US is free country, and think of it as a loose federation of gated communities separated by potholes.

I remember having heard Catharine (Cat) Stevens, wife of former senator Ted Stevens was on that list because she shared a name with Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam. The worst thing he did was write some bad songs.

Ohio 6-Year-Old Turns Up on Terror Watch List

An airline ticket agent informed the family of their predicament when they embarked on recent trip from Cleveland to Minneapolis. "They said, 'Well, she's on the list.' We're like, okay, what's the story? What do we have to do to get off the list? This isn't exactly the list we want to be on," Thomas said. The Thomases were allowed to fly that day, but authorities told them to contact the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to clear up the matter. Now they've received a letter from the government addressed to 6-year-old Alyssa, telling her that nothing in her file will be changed. http://www.aolnews.com/nation/articl...******** These lists are unconstitutional. If TSA is doing their job they won't have to worry about who gets on an airplane. Enough with these stupid lists already.

"They think we are retarded - they are retarded."

"The watch lists are an important layer of security to prevent individuals with known or suspected ties to terrorism from flying," an unnamed spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration told Fox News.
