"The maiden voyage of a new $5-million ferry... went awry Wednesday, when the vessel slammed into the north side of the narrow channel and what was supposed to be a one-minute journey took nearly half an hour."
It's not like this never happened with the old ferry, I've twice been on the old ferry when they missed the slip and had to back up and try again (and again and again), once because of poor visibility (fog) and once because of high winds. If memory serves in both cases GX wound up busing us out to YYZ but we had to actually show up at YTZ and cross on the ferry to get the bus.
I called Porter Airlines when receiving this 25 50 100 discount offer and forced the issue: Are there better discounts out there?
The service rep hemmed and hawed, then asked for guidance, and said there were. Rightfully he didn't tell me what they are. My reaction: Head over to FT to see if someone else has already found the 'something better'. Guess not. Anyways the fare with discount as presently offered is reasonable, but I think it may go lower.
Porter staff were standing on Bay Street this morning giving out little kits that include a balsa wood airplane (have not tried to fly it yet, so do not know if YTZ runway is long enough ) and a note advertising the 25/50/100 discounts. Uniforms are nice, but I can't see that as a reason to fly with them.

Porter Airlines passengers will be met with protests first thing Monday morning when the new carrier takes off.
Community Air -- the group that battled to stop the bridge to the Island airport, won the fight and still didn't stop Porter -- is launching a "Boycott the Island airport" campaign.
I can report that the Porter balsa wood planes are easy to assemble and fly reasonably well. They do have a tendency to veer into walls, however, which may make them more accurate models than Porter may wish.
