Mauritania Airlines

Does anyone know anything about them, specifically schedules and where I can buy a ticket from NKC to DKR?

There's a comment in the forum from 2006, which indicates that they're okay, but their website is rather uninformative, and an email to the 'contactez' mail address there has gone unanswered after a week....

APG in Paris

In case anyone is interested, I got a response from APG, their sales agent in Paris. Will likely be flying with them (Mauritania Airlines, L6) in a couple of weeks, will post a TR if it's noteworthy.

I would love to see a trip report on this airline. I find the smaller airlines to be far more interesting than the cookie cutter mainline airlines.

Your right about their website - straight out of Windows 3.1 era!

Sorry - change of plans means no L6 trip report. To make up for it, I'll do one on these bad boys in May instead!

new airport at NKC now operational

I didn't fly on L6 last week, but did go through NKC, and the new airport is now open.

I've added a small report onto one of ironmanjt's trip reports here, for future reference when people are looking for info.

I reopen this thread long forgotten:
Last night, I read an announcement of this small African airline:
Mauritiania Airlines adds Conakry – Abidjan sector from Nov 2019
Mauritania Airlines starting next month is adding Conakry – Abidjan sector, as the airline extends existing Nouakchott – Dakar – Conakry service to Abidjan. From 03NOV19, Embraer E175 aircraft operates this route twice weekly.
L6148 NKC1000 – 1055DSS1140 – 1300CKY1340 – 1530ABJ E75 37
L6149 ABJ1610 – 1800CKY1840 – 2000DSS2040 – 2135NKC E75 37

Separately, the airline’s 2 weekly Nouakchott – Dakar – Bamako – Cotonou – Libreville service will be operated by Boeing 737-700 instead of -800, effective 10NOV19.

I've been arranging the last published schedule for L6, that was valid for this summer.
It consists of 54 weekly flights covering a large number of western and northern African nations.
But, the most interesting fact, is that they only use three aircraft of the 7 they have.

MOST flights use E175, which have two registrations: either 5T-CLO or 5T-CLL
L6010 NKC-NDB-OUZ, L6011 OUZ-NDB-NKC 135
L6104 NKC-DSS-CKY, L6105 CKY-DSS-NKC 3
L6110 NKC-NDB-LPA, L6111 LPA-NDB-NKC 247
L6112 NKC-DSS-BKO-ABJ, L6113 ABJ-BKO-DSS-NKC 126
L6114 NKC-CMN, L6115 CMN-NKC x247
L6118 NKC-CMN, L6119 LPA-NDB-CMN 247
L6120 NKC-LPA, L6121 LPA-NKC 5
L6128 NKC-DSS-CKY-FNA, L6129 FNA-CKY-DSS-NKC 57
Soon, a new flight is starting:
L6148 NKC-DSS-CKY-ABJ, L6149 ABJ-CKY-DSS-NKC 37

Some flights use a single B738, registered as 5T-CLE
L6116 NKC-TUN, L6117 TUN-NKC 36
L6142 NKC-BKO-COO-LBV-PNR-BZV, L6143 BZV-LBV-COO-BKO-NKC 125
L6146 NKC-DSS-ABJ-COO-LBV-BZV, L6147 BZV-LBV-COO-ABJ-DSS-NKC 47

So, the single 738 performs 6 flights, consisting of 21 segments. This means: 4+27+20, or 51 take offs and landings a week. This is an insane amount, IMHO. It means 7,3 cycles a day.
The E175s perform 16 flights, consisting of 31 segments. This means: 12+4+12+18+8+9+2+12 = 77, meaning 38,5 flights per aircraft per week. This averages 5,5 flights per day per aircraft. But with the new flights (6 segments) there will be 12 more cycles: 89/2 = 44,5 flights per aircraft per week.

Apparently, soon L6146/7 will be operated by B73G leaving the 5T-CLE a bit more space for maintenance for instance. This is important, because, for instance, L6146 departed NKC at 07:00 and returned as L6147 at 02:20 the following day. Both flights are 19h20 long. So this is important, as distances are long and it includes 10 take-off and landings! I believe more than one crew does this flight.

But the fleet has other aircraft of unknown status.
First, there is a B737-MAX8 (registered 5T-CLJ). It has been grounded for some months, following the international directives.
There is another B737-700, registered 5T-CLC, of unknown status.
There is a third Embraer, E145, registered 5T-CLD. Also, the status is unknown. I'd have thought it was used for domestic routes (OUZ and NBD but it is not the case).
Later, there are two B735 (registered 5T-CLA and 5T-CLB). The first one has been stored for over one year, while the second, there is no information again.
So: my question is: where are the B735 5T-CLB, the B73G 5T-CLC, and the E145 5T-CLD?

Last photo I could find of the B735 5T-CLB was in 2016, in BRU, available here: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Maur...37-55S/4167515
Last photo of the B73G 5T-CLC was in 2015, in LPA available here: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Maur...37-7EE/4136479
Last photo of the E145 5T-CLD was in 2018, also in LPA: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Maur...-145LR/5290087

Also: last photo of 5T-CLA (a B735) was this one: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Maur...37-55S/2430759 (CDG, 2014). When did Mauritania Airlines ceased its flights to France?
The last photo of the B737-MAX8 (5T-CLJ) is this one: https://www.airliners.net/photo/Maur...-8-MAX/5329333 (LPA, nov 2018).

So I open this thread to discuss the news of Mauritania Airlines!
Cheers,
