Read the T&Cs for crying out loud. Vouchers cannot be used on prepaid rates, for obvious reasons.

Theoretically they could if the voucher contains a number or code that is input when making a reservation and automatically deducts the value of the voucher at time of booking. Other hotels such as IHG/PC and SPG offer the opportunity to pay for a room partly with points and partly with cash in advance. Since I am new to this hotel program, I wished advice from people who had used them before. I currently have Le Meridien booked for that night but I could better allocate my SPG points elsewhere and just need a place near the airport to crash before going to Bora Bora (PC redemptions).

So I should book a room category that is not paid in advance, show up at the Sofitel with vouchers in hand and settle any difference in cash on the spot?

Hi Tiki, my 2 cents: given that the prepaid rate is 47$ cheaper, you would only be saving 13$ by using one $60 voucher towards the $242 rate (not prepaid), so why not save the vouchers for another occasion? As you mentioned in Ibis, the rate is very cheap (and it is difficult to get heavily discounted rates), so using a couple of these makes a stay almost free, whereas in the sofitel you are actually paying $47 more each night to be able to use the voucher and that eats into how much you save. Sorry if I did not make myself clear... But I would simply save the points for later.

I was going to use 4 x $60 vouchers and get the room for free-or pretty close to it. Maybe even one more to get some dinner. I have a big family!

Whole T&C as printed on the back of those vouchers below:

Quote:
The AIClub rewards gift voucher is accepted exclusively during the period of validity specified on the reverse side to pay for part or full settlement of services (which must include a minimum one-night stay) provided by hotels in the Sofitel, Pullmann, MGallery, Novotel, Mercure, Suitehotel, Ibis and all seasons networks but also by the Accor Thalassa hotels. It is accepted in the Ibis hotels in located in France only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The AIClub rewards gift voucher may be used at certain partners of the AIClub network mentioned on Accor hotels Loyalty Program - A|Club.
Settlement with AIClub rewards gift vouchers must be done directly at the hotel or at our partnerīs point of sale.
Several AIClub rewards gift vouchers may be used to settle the same bill. It is possible to complete payment by any other means of payment accepted by the hotels or the partners. AIClub rewards gift voucher will not give rise to partial or total monetary exchange in any form, including change in cash. It may not be replaced or reimbursed in the event of theft, loss, deterioration, destruction or expiry of the validity date. Either in Euro or in US Dollar, it can be used outside the Euro zone. The currency exchange rate applied will be that of the last workday of the previous month as extracted from the Natixis database "Multidevises". Natixis is a company with a capital of 1955268 310, 40 euros located at 30 avenue Pierre Mendes, 75013 Paris France.
I did not check the accuracy of Natixis "Multidevises" en detail but it seems that if you can get the hotels to follow their own t&c stated on the coupon in regard to the exchange rate used their margin to gain an additional 10% is limited.

If you want to really confuse them, bring both EU and USD vouchers!

Acquiring these certs for the sole purpose of flipping them on CC could be construed as "broker-like" behavior and run afoul of CC rules... beware...

As the promo conditions are no longer visible on the A-Club website, does any one know when it expires?

Is it at 11:59 PM Paris time on Sept 30?

Thanks Starbucks, that's a huge help to see the T&C actually printed on the voucher.

For those of you with large families, how many vouchers is it safe to order at once? I decided to go for 6 x $60 USD for the night in Tahiti, breakfast and dinner, should just about cover it depending on currency rates.

I ordered 2 yesterday but since all 6 will go to the same address, should I space them out over several days? I am a casual worker so don't have a reliable work address, it changes all the time.

My take is that the fulfilment process on this promo is at least partially automated.

A machine is not going to care about your address and someone stuffing envelopes for a living is probably only marginally more interested.

My feeling is this thing is going to get shut down completely from a high level or it's going to be fine.

Either way there are only a few days left before the deadline so fill yer boots.

It might be a bit different in Australia, I think USA and Canada gets theirs posted out from France. Someone else from Oz said theirs were posted from Australia and since we have a smaller population, it may be harder to fly under the radar. I've done envelope stuffing as part of casual admin office temp jobs and I personally could care less whose name is on the envelope but then there are always those over achievers who would notice. We have an unusual ethnic last name too, but thankfully its a culture which is known for large families.

I agree. Also, remember that our vouchers are mixed with those of people who actually earned them. The people stuffing envelopes have no way to distinguish the two.

How To Book

hi all, i have a queestion here.. since the website bookings are all pre-pay with credit card, does it mean we have to book the hotel by calling them & use the voucher to settle the payment ? also do u guys think we will get the same rate as published in the website ? or we will get the more expensive rate by calling to make the reservation ?
