Contrary to both the subject line of the e-mail from Accor and the title of this thread, you do NOT receive 60 USD or 40 Euros! Instead, you receive 2,000 points which can be redeemed as (if I understand correctly) partial payment for a hotel night at SOME (not all) of Accor's chains.
Getting a voucher that has no name on it worth 60 USD, valid for a year for every "member" you create is very generous. Plus you can hand in several vouchers at a time. Thatīs stupid of Accor. I have been long enough on FT to know that many will simply create dozens of these accounts and even sell them on ebay or CC. I guess it wonīt take long until someone is selling info for a few dollars on ebay about how to get "unlimited" vouchers worth 60$ a piece. Wait and youīll see.

I reckon Accor has an idea of what they are doing in a quiet time for business. For every FTer who turns up with enough vouchers for a free room, there will be 5 normal people who take a $60 discount on a $200 room which suits Accor just fine. It will also be far less expensive than Hyatts 30,000 room giveaway from earlier this year.
The only snag, from Accors view, is that I assume the franchised properties can claim 90%ish of the face value from Accor. During the Hyatt promo, I assume franchised properties would just have claimed the normal reward night cash which is usually pretty low.

If your hotel rates are other than USD or Euro's, the hotels will also get a bit back on the fabulous exchange rates that they will no doubt convert the certificates at
according to one poster on a russian forum, who claims to have called the Accor help line, the vouchers (and they are only paper vouchers, not electronic) will be mailed to the members ONLY after any account activity... that is hotel stays, etc... although the exact wording was "As soon as any other elligable points will be posted to your account" .... if only we could get some bonus miles from somewhere else... maybe that would qualify as elligable points

My mother got her voucher yesterday and several others on this forum have reported getting the vouchers.
Nowhere does it state there must be account activity!!
These are regular vouchers (same as those obtained by actually earning 2,000 points from hotel stays) and once ordered, they shouls ship.

I would not "pay $60" for a US Hit (worth 2.5K Bonus Dividend Miles) and 2K miles on the transfer, but I would gladly trade a few pieces of paper I didn't have a few days ago & only took 10 minutes to acquire for 4,500 US Dividend Miles... But its most likely a mute point as I dont believe there is really anyway to do it without addition Accor activity beyond signing up...
We are going to Tahiti in Nov and I just joined and got 2000 points. The lowest room rate at the Sofitel Tahiti is around $195 USD incl tax. It's an advance purchase rate, credit card charged immediately. How do I use my points for $60 off? I could also sign my husband and other family up for more vouchers if it really is true, you can combine them. Or should we book the Flex rate incl breakfast for $242 USD?
We had stayed at two Ibis hotels within the last 2 weeks, I put in a request for credit but not sure if they will give it since we checked out before joining. One was in Paris and one in Nuremburg. I didn't bother joining as the rates were so low we wouldn't have gotten enought points to do anything. (160 euros all up)
