(Are you referring to Zurich, which is ZRH? I've checked the IATA listing and do not see an airport code of ZUR.)

My mistake. Yes ZRH, Zurich.

There's two really nice Aspire lounges, the REALLY nice one in Terminal E (which you're unlikely to be taking if departing to Skopje but who knows?) and the regular nice one right after security.

The aspire lounges are better than the Swiss lounges?

Turns out I had to leave out of E terminal since Macedonia is not in the EU, and the Swiss lounge in E does NOT participate in the Priority Pass program, so your only option out of E is the aspire lounge.

the aspire lounge is okay, a little underwhelming for food and drink. I'm sure the Swiss offerings are much better. Had I known this, I would have gone back to the Swiss J lounges back after security before passport control.

For those leaving out of E take notice.

That's also written in the priority pass rules/link above.

I'm more surprised you didn't like the Aspire E lounge, I found it great. It's sleek, has some reasonable food offerings (though admittedly I've only been there for breakfast hours) and a really sweet patio.

ZUR is the city code for Zurich, rather like LON, MIL and NYC for London, Milan and New York.

No confusion for me as there is only one mainline airport in ZUR.

I have just been to both Aspire-E and Swiss-D. I wish I could confirm your hypothesis, but I found everything about Swiss-D (food, seat, temperature, ambiance, crowding) to be inferior to Aspire-E. Both had pretty crappy food at lunch time, but Aspire was more eatable. It was much less crowded.

This was my experience as well. I was flying CX, and the Swiss agent told me to go to aspires. I said no I like this one better. She actually argued with me. After all was said and done she let me in.

The Swiss lounge right before passport control right after security is much better in my opinion.
