I was offered 3000 extra miles to keep a card active. Should I take this deal and keep the card active for a few more months, or is is recommended to just cancel it as soon as the miles have posted?
Only you can answer this question, what is more valuble to you, 3k or 30k?

Given recent radical YMMV changes (see 60-day thread), I'd rephrase that as, what's more valuable to you, 3k you can definitely get or 30k you may be able to get?
The 3k is for a card you definitely have. The 30k is depending on the next app you make being accepted, not rejected for one of the new reasons like "only one no-preset-spending-limit card per person" some (but not all) people have gotten very recently.
Not much exciting about that particular offer, except that it points out that those with time on their hands may want to try a bunch of other "away" and "miles" URLs to see if they can find better MC/Amex offers that way.

Thanks. Planning to try to churn again in 60 days, so this will help if they will approve my applications

Then why not do both?

First link doesn't waive the annual fee.
And second link isn't any different than what's on the AA main page I think.
On top of that, this one said on the sidebar of the application form, that if you do not qualify the criteria of Visa Signature, you could be issued Visa Gold, which do not carry the same benefits as Visa Signature. (presumably without the no pre-set spending limit benefit)
Flyertalk has an amazing option. You can search any specific forum or thread. Searching would easily point you to this forum 30000 AAmiles for Citi card?
I'm curious to see people's opinions on this email messages from Citi when I applied for the card at the beginning of October. I've been churning but there was only one credit pull within the last 60 days (and less than 7 in the previous 6 months) before I applied.
I was declined with the message, "You have submitted multiple applications for credit." This is different then what I got back in April when I had too many credit pulls within the previous six months, i.e., "Too many recent credit inquiries were recorded on your credit bureau report."
My wife and I applied simultaneously and used the same email address for the contact info. Makes handling the paperwork easier.
Anyone think that multiple applications with the same email address is what got the "multiple applications" message?
Any thoughts on how long I should wait before applying again?

This message is what you will typically see if you exceed the number of applications during a given period. Many of us are allowed 2 applications every 60 days. If we tried a third app during the 60 day period we would receive that message. Now, others have reported they are limited to one app every 60 days. Citi may also be looking at the fact you have been applying for other credit cards and consider you a potential credit risk. Others have reported that Citi tracks the IP address used for the application to determine potential fraud. I would suggest you call Citi. Please report back here with the outcome so we can all see what Citi is up to.

Just got off with customer service. Grrr...Stupid noob mistake. I could kick myself. For some reason the excel formula which I use messed up the dates and I hit the 3 applications in 60 days issue!
I applied on
8/9/09
9/5/09
10/8/09 - (exactly 60 days after the 8/9/09 application)
It probably would have gone if I had waited another day. But now we see that there are different messages depending upon which limit you hit.
My next move is to try applying 66 days after the 9/5/09 application (Nov. 10) which should get me back on schedule. Thoughts?
The "standard" 30k app says "This American Airlines AAdvantage® mileage offer is only valid for new Citi® / AAdvantage® accounts applied for by November 30, 2009, and excludes any other Citi® / AAdvantage® credit cards offered."
Does this mean you should only do these offers once then move on to the 25,000 mile ones? Thanks for your opinions.

It does not mean that (use up the 25K first) as far as anyone has experienced.
what is interesting is that the language is changing for some new apps to something that might mean an end to churning. YMMV but the results of recent churn attempts are also showing a heightened resistance from Citi to churn baby churn behaviors.
