It sounds like most of the recent problems have been Business cards.

Some say you have to wait 90 days for any kind of application after a biz card was approved.
In my experience, I had been able to do Biz and personal at same time, then 65 days later, 2 personal were approved. So I think you are safe with the personal card but not Biz. I wait 120 days to do another Biz.

Report on my very recent apps for two Citi AA cards, personal MC and Amex.

Got the MC (and have already charged the bonus getting amt. ), turned down for Amex because of too many inqueries in last six months. Got my credit report via free report with turndown--did it over 'phone which was quite easy.

Checking report I had 7 hard inqueries in past six months. The 7th was one from Citi, apparently for the AA MC I just got.

Since I have gotten many Citi AA cards previously with pretty much the same # of inqueries on CR I have to assume that they are cracking down--or cracking up.

Just another data point.

Did the reasoning state 6 months? Or just "recent inquiries"?

Credit Inquries

Can someone kindly shed some light on the credit inquiries, as I'm still relatively new to "churning".

I've been reading from this forum that Citi would automatically reject apps if there are more than 6 "hard" pulls. I ordered my credit report today and checked under the Inquiries, which is listed at "6". (Does this mean games's over for me...at least for now?)

I've only applied for Citicards twice (2 cards each time). When I looked under the inquiries breakdown, 3 of the inquires were from 2007 and 2008 (mortgage related). Of the 3 recent inquiries, one was for for another bank, and 2 were Citi. Even though I had applied for a total of four cards, does anyone know if this is considered "4" hard pulls or only "2" hard pulls, and is the "6" inquiries on my credit report still relevant if I want to apply for one or two more cards? Thanks!

(I'm considering the BA 100k offer, but I'm still reviewing through the terms and conditions to see if I qualify as I had a United Chase card before)

Have you read the sticky relative to the time frame for the hard pulls.

Citi counts all hard pulls no matter what bank or finance company they are from.

Says: "Too many recent credit inquries were recorded on your credit bureau report."

By the way, I wouldn't call it "reasoning." More like just another silly reason--but the banks have their "reasons."

What is in it you dont understand?

Multiple = more than 1
Credit = Card (credit line extended in the form of a credit card)

When you apply for a credit card, you essentially apply for CREDIT to be extended to you.

That is the first time that I have applied for the citi bank visa card. Although, I did cancel a Citi MC about 2 months ago.

Just to clarify,

1. Does Citi count 7 pulls from Experian, or all three bureaus? For me, Citi always pull from my Experian, and I currently have 4 hard pulls on Experian and 3 on Equifax in the last 6 month. I am not sure if I am good to go now or need to wait...

2. If I want to apply on Nov 30th, should I check my hard pulls within the "6 months" period from May 1st to Oct. 31st, or May 30th to Nov 30th?

Thanks a lot

Just Experian. You need to remember that there is the 7 pulls in six months and also the 2 Citi applications in 60 days (YMMV). They look at both.

As for the time period, it is 6 months back from the DATE they do the pull.

Don't cut it too close. Citi (or its computers) are famously unable to caculate the sixty day period correctly. I suspect the same applies to the six month period.

Why not wait, say, 6.5 months?
