Houston-Beijing Nonstop flights to China are likely this year

Interesting article on the Houston Chronicle today about a possible Non-stop to Beijing. I know it says Air China but figured with the connection to IAH United Hub it would be of interest to some folks in here...

This would be a potential big advantage to me. Currently my usual US destination for family visits is a smaller SE city, accessible from relatively few places one of which is IAH. Normally I have four flight segments to get from PEK back to family. Cutting that down to two would be worth considering, even though I long ago took a vow never to fly TPAC on CA. Might have to reconsider my position on that one.

Here's the official announcement from today....

According to my calculations, it'll be 13 and a half hours coming to Houston and 14:20 going back...

The hours are interesting, coming in it's going to suck, as basically all the european airlines arrive around that time... going back at 1:40am, not much activity at IAH around that time...

Times would be excellent for me both directions, and get into PEK at a good time, enough to get into the city before the rush hour gets full steam.

As to arrival in IAH with all the Euro flights: Global Entry is your friend!
