China Eastern A330-200

Hey people,

I'm going to be flying from YVR to PVG in March 2012 with China Eastern. It's going to be an A330-200 on the route. Anyone know if there's going to be PTVs onboard?

Cheers,

Yep, and finally 180 degrees lie-flat up front~ They actually just rolled out these new A332s and are serving their most popular SHA-PEK route at the moment. Should be a more joyful ride than usual on a A332~

Right now there is only one MU 332 equipped with PTV in Y and it is unlikely to appear on the YVR flight. The first scheduled long haul destination for the new 332s is LHR.

Then which 332s are they gonna use? I thought it's either the 343s or the 332s...

One A332? Anyone know the tail number? Any A333's/A340's?

Last time I checked (admittedly not recently) MU hadn't jumped on the AVOD bandwagon yet.

MU is likely to use older 332s with no ptv in Y for YVR right now. The first MU plane with ptv in Y is registered B-6537, it appears another one (B-6538) joined MU this month. Perhaps they are deliveried quickly enough then they could be put on YVR flight in time for the OP. See the link for a trip report in the new plane.

I don't see why they would do that though... I mean these routes are currently flying with the older 343s, why would they use older 332s instead and then replace again with new 33Es? I don't see the logic... The only reason I can think of is that as MU is selling the 343s, and they won't have the aircraft for YVR-PVG route no more... but how likely is that? I'm just finding it confusing though, that's all...
BTW, the new seats looks quite alright~

With only two aircrafts, the new 332s can only be dedicated to one long haul destination from PVG, and MU feels LHR is a better use of the new planes than YVR. Just because MU retires 343 from YVR doesn't mean it has to use the newest plane to replace it, MU can shuffles the fleet around to maximize profit.

Point taken. I indeed agree that LHR is a better use of the new planes. We'll see how it all works out... What do you think they'll replace the 346s with, if ever, haha...

China Eastern A330-200

There are currently three new A330-200, called 33E, in China Eastern Airline fleet. I guess the "E" stands for Entertainment.....hopefully they can send one of them to YVR

Delivery date:

B-6537 (18/11/2011)
B-6538 (06/12/2011)
B-6543 (19/01/2012)

Great news guys. I think China Eastern Airline has began its new 33E service on PVG-YVR-PVG route.

I saw B-6538 (SkyTeam Livery) takeoff from YVR at 12:30pm today.

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Andiiwoo!

Thanks for that - that is indeed good news for some of us.
