Rating for Malaysia Airlines' Enrich: A-
Pros:
1.Ability to earn points/miles on all fare codes (except the cheapest domestic tickets), including heavily discounted economy tickets.
2.It offers an excellent earn to redemption ratio, especially for premium tickets, when compared to other programmes like Singapore Airlines and Qantas.
3.The programme offers companion premium redemption tickets at a discounted cost and this offers excellent value.
4.There are very good benefits for elite members (increased luggage allowance, priority checkin, priority boarding, priority luggage, lounge access, etc.)
5.Easy redemption and availability of seats in all classes.
6.Ability to transfer points (up to 50000) between accounts (for a fee).
7.Ability to purchase miles up to 30% of the needed award.
8.Free to join.
Cons:
1.Malaysia Airlines is not a member of any airline alliance, so benefits of elite membership is restricted to the airline itself.
2.IT component of the programme is far behind other airlines.
3.5-year maximum life span for points (including paying a fee for extneding points for a year).

if MH gets an A- for Enrich, Qatar and Emirates would get some kind of crazy A Star Distinction and Dean's Prize or something rating.
Enrich is a definite B- compared to them. Qatar boasts of having the most generous frequent flier program and they're not kidding. Emirates isnt far behind either.

I don't know about those programmes but I'm just rating it based on my experience with them compared to other FF programmes I'm with, which include QF, UA, DJ and AF. I can also compare it to SQ, as I have many friends who are with them.
I would rate it A. This is compared to Qantas which is impossible to redeem in First and Business on some popular routes. A because I can redeem and get first class tickets to KL even just 2 weeks before Christmas. I find their service very very good compared to Qantas, Virgin Atlantic and BA.

I don't understand how there are impossible levels for redemption. I have never ever had a problem. I always get the tickets I need on the dates I want (both in economy and business) and the cost of redeeming tickets is so much cheaper than SQ or QF!!
I would rank MH Enrich program an A simply for the fact that I can and have redeemed many seats in the past without hassles. They have much more generous redemption quota than I can find with anyone else even SQ's Krisflyer where you need double the amount of points required for a standard award if you require anything more than one seat. Last July I was able to redeem 5 tickets in First from SYD-KUL return, the year before 3 tickets in Business from ADL-SIN return and year before that 2 tickets in Business from ADL-KUL return. This year I am looking to redeem 5 tickets from ADL-LAX, and it appears that they have 4 seats available for redemption in Business, including at least 9 seats available in Business for redemption for the ADL-KUL sector. Sure, their IT department may not be the best, but the ease of redemption and very reasonable prices (points) more than made up for it.
Agreed.
in the last 4 years i have had 8 Flights with MH all of them Syd - KUL - Syd
5 of them i put in for points upgrade to J, and got all 5 of them, and that was for 3 people each time.
the other 3 flights was short on points at the time. lounge is fine in Syd and KUL.
agree IT is dodgy and the website could be better, but still havn't ever had any problems with them.
Points usuage in comparison with everyone else seems great too. much cheaper than QF, and at least you're upgrade is guaranteed, unlike QF.

That's the thing about frequent flyer programmes. Earning points is one thing but redeeming them is another. Enrich is great on both counts, especially the redemption part. That is probably the best thing about the Enrich programme, without a doubt.
It's easy to earn points on Qantas but really difficult to redeem them. With SQ, you can't earn points on their cheapest fares and then they cost so much more to redeem. Not only that, you're even unable to redeem them on the A380 flights! What's up with that???
must agree with doctorjosh on most points raised, have booked many premium
flights thru enrich with very little ado. One thing i can't agree on is the reduced
redemption rate for a companion ticket, rang enrich australia last year and was told "'no can do'', maybe someone could verify this or hopefully prove me wrong, looking to book kl-london shortly so any info on this would be appreciated.

The companion business redemption ticket from Australia to Europe costs 116000 miles (return), which you can only get in conjunction with a paid business class ticket (including discounted business tickets) and not redeeming 2 business class tickets together. I only redeemed a companion ticket for that price in October last year. A single business class redemption ticket costs 145000 miles, which is still significantly cheaper than the equivalent QF cost on their FFP for 256000 points for the same sectors!
Yes i agree with the sums, done exactly the same a few years ago, works out at 20% discount on the redemption ticket. However, flew syd-kl last september, paid for my ticket and enquired about a discount on the redemption
ticket but was told not avaliable. Will try again later when i book syd-lon flight,
i have enough mileage accrual to cover either way but it would be nice to know
in advance.

A companion redemption ticket is treated the same as a normal redemption ticket, I believe, so it may have not been available because there were actually no redemtion tickets available at all for your flight? I'd redeemed a companion ticket SYD-LHR (116000 miles) for travel in Oct/Nov last year and another companion ticket for SYD-KUL (60000 miles) for travel last month.
