Quick carry-on question re: EVA

I'm going SFO-TPE tomorrow and want to know, what's the quick carry-on rules for EVA Air?

From their website it says can carry ONE piece only, but then also lists a laptop as a free item. So if I have two backpacks (one for laptop & junk, one for camera/photo equipment), am I okay? Laptop backpack is a normal sized OGIO bag, the photo bag is a slingshot type bag so not large either. I was initially going to stuff all my camera stuff and laptop stuff in the same bag, and just bring the slingshot inside my checked in luggage, but if I can carry two separate bags on, it would be much easier...

Thanks.

EVA carry-on

I do not think you have any problem carrying your backpack and camera bag. They normally weigh and tag your carry-on when you check-in. The gate agents in the waiting lounge just look for oversized / bulky carry-on (>24").

You should be OK, but be prepared to consolidate if the flight is full, you are in regular coach and you have no status.
