Philippines Airlines UK-Philippines-NZ Baggage Allowance

Morning all,

I'm flying from the UK to New Zealand this year and looking at flights with Philippines Airlines - they've got the best combo of affordable and convenient flights as far as I've found so far. However, baggage allowance confuses me.

Their restrictions on UK-Philippines flights are 2 x 50kg bags per person, but the restrictions for Philippines-NZ flights are just 30kg per person in total. I won't need 100kg to myself but might want to stretch the 30kg limit, especially with two bags being quite likely. Does anyone know what the restriction on the flight will be? I've got no feedback from the airline having tried to contact them, so any advice for anyone who's been through a similar dilemma would be invaluable!

Thanks in advance

Welcome to Flyer Talk Jack Watson

I'll move your post to the other asian airlines forum, where someone will hopefully be able to answer your question.

recently flew AKL-MNL-YVR return (with stopover in MNL outward) one one ticket

allowance was 2 bags; just checked my booking email from travel agent and it mentions allowance was 2 bags - presuming they were 30kgs max per bag

The baggage allowance applies to all flights on one ticket. So, for a U.K flight it's 2 bags of 50lbs (not kg) or 23kg each and that would apply to the whole flight.
If you have a separate ticket to NZ or domestic, the allowance is lower for that flight.
PAL has some staff that are sticklers for rules who will hit you with excess luggage fees, in your case a steep GBP05/piece, so I'd not risk overweight luggage... make sure it's checked through to final destination on check-in...
