The hack is of the DNS - which will be generic software. The actual servers etc are there are unaffected. As your own computer will cache the results of the DNS lookup it could be 24 hours before you see the correct website and that's after the problem is fixed.

Yes. But to me, it looks like even big companies with sophisticated security systems can still be penetrated or hacked..so it really depends on how good these hackers are and how much information or access to information they have of their victims.
But yes, this is the first time MAS have been hacked like this..and it will be a learning lesson for their IT boys maybe and a bit of a wake up call for them.
Singapore Airlines could never be hacked. They are brave.
