Malaysia Airlines in brand overhaul after MH17 and MH370

Malaysia Airlines 'to change its name and restructure its routes' after two major tragedies in six months

Malaysia Airlines changing routes, could change name after recent tragedies

Malaysia Airlines may seek fresh start with new name after being hit by twin disasters of MH17 and MH370

Now, what do you all think should be their new name?

It would be ironic if they renamed it

Mercury Straits Airlines

In 1971 when Malaysia Singapore Airlines was split between the 2 Countries

Singapore wanted to be named Mercury Singapore Airlines to retain what was then the better known profile initials MSA....

Malaysia objected and the Singapore Unit had to settle for Singapore Airlines...the Rest as they say is History

For BMI aficionados Mercury Airlines was also the small regional airline that Sir Michael Bishop started his aviation career at Manchester - Ringway in 1962

MH shouldn't need to change their name.

I can't help but feel sorry for them and will book our next flight to KL with them.

They could go back to the original name : MAS - Malaysian Airline System, or just MALAYSIA. They can't defer any much more than that.

What the airline needs is new fresh management (prefer from another airline) and they have to lose the bumiputra mentality if they want to survive.

This, applied to the entire country. Although to be fair the bumiputra mentality didn't cause the two incidents/accidents.

Possible confusion with KLM and Malev? Otherwise, it still obviously sounds like it's Malaysian.

They could go back to MAS and not have it stand for anything. Then only the old timers will know it's Malaysian.

I don't think it needs a strong rebranding. I've been on two MH flights since MH17 was shot down. Both had decent loads, crew was professional as ever and if there was any discussion at all, people were very compassionate with MH (not so much with the Russian leadership, to put it mildly ...).

It may sound zynical, but I even think MH17 helped to forget about MH370. If a re-branding is needed, it's because of MH370, definitely not because of MH17!

Funny, Sanskrit is the Mother of most languages and had no problem understanding. A lot to be said about learning languages.
