I had the Garoupa (Grouper fish) nasi kandar and a relative had the waffles ex-KUL. The Garoupa is pretty good whilst the waffles were meh.

The garoupa curry kandar is really nice. I just wish there was more of the curry!

It is not good nasi lemak.

As a comparison, try the air asia nasi lemak and that's probably a hell of a lot closer to what nasi lemak should taste like.
The Air Asia nasi lemak is terrible! The worst. I've had it a few times. My mum's had it a few times and we both refuse to get it now. Consistently bad.

Thanks for the photos, lcptek!
The Cheese Omelette was actually nice, I do like it. Maybe you can give it a try.

The pan fried fish tasted like it was steamed. The potato cubes were very dry though.

Had the Lamb with Pumpkin going to London, was tasty.

Also decided on the Omelette for breakfast. Nothing specia but not horrid, can't say much else.

The highlight of the meals was the Lamb Biryani (GCC 04 012 A), rivalled the best food I had in London itself.

On the other hand, stay well away from the breakfast Mixed Grill. The meat was so bland, potatoes and asparagus were average. While I normally finish everything I get, this was not worth eating....

I am on MH004, KUL-LHR, F (morning flight) on Wednesday. Any recommendations (or definite NOs) for "book the cook"? Thanks.

A little bit late! :P

lamphs, if you do see this, what did you end up ordering?

On your way back, I strongly recommend picking the Lamb Biryani. Not sure if business class & first are the same for mains, but I'd hope they're close!

Anyone tried the Lamb Shank. I am choosing that for KUL-NRT. Usually hard to get it wrong.

KIX no longer available.

Tried to submit for KIX but no longer available.

Chef-on-Call is only available for First Class and Business Class passengers with confirmed tickets travelling to/from Kuala Lumpur and any of the following cities: London, Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland, Incheon, Beijing, Shanghai and Narita.

What's annoying is that they still advertise the Chef-on-Call feature on the F and J menus to other destinations - saw it on my HKG->KUL trip last week

The available list shows up when you actually order the Chef-on-call online.
I'd go with the lobster when travelling in F. It was excellent!

Question. What's F like on the A380 from Kul to London? Anyone got any reviews or photos and also images of the meals served in F?

Don't assume because you book you will actually get what you ordered....

I flew KUL - SYD 14th September and ordered a meal on Chef on Call, but when I queried it they said it wasn't on board and that this had happened a few times... So don't get your hopes up for anything 'special'... Although the the satay sticks made it all better.... They are still superb and make MH worth flying for them alone....
