paying for tarmac transfers

there are a surprising number of airports where commercial passengers can pay for tarmac transfers from/to plane as part of VIP services.

occasionally it is actually the private jet terminal that is used to handle commercial passengers paying for VIP services with tarmac transfers.

would this make a good thread for this new forum?

Would like this...and would likely pay if it is executed similar to Lufthansa FCT transfers.

separately, sometime it just seems you never know what you are getting at different airports with different VIP services. Will they escort you through security or not? is there a car transfer? what exactly are you paying for? it seems varied and dependent upon each airport.

Frankfurt Airport does a good job in this field, with a good brochure explaining what services are available, and also (importantly) a price sheet:

this thread was meant to only be about tarmac transfers, not regular VIP services
ive seen differentiation between VIP (no tarmac) and VVIP (tarmac)

tarmac transfer available at a surprising number of airports
can be better than LH/airline because guaranteed car to plane
most german and swiss, AMS - sold directly from airport with sites like linked above, all extremely clear, not random 3rd party VIP service

LHR is only airport where it is extremely expensive and now requires J/F, although some in china may also be really expensive

i regret not doing it at GVA, FTers said no queues, i waited a while in a queue, so learning experience for me
also didnt do it at a caribbean airport, but may do in future in case of larger plane landing at same time

i can work on a list of links to airport sites at some point, wanted to see if there was response

ive never understood lack of discussion on FT when many pay for F/J and many love LH FCT
personally, i'll pay for VIP/VVIP but almost never pay for F/J since i spend on accommodations

At both MUC and SIN, a small private lounge is used that seems to be quite far from the main part of the terminal. In both cases, the lounges seem to have more limited F&B offerings than the local airline lounges do.

SIN jetquay sells both tarmac transfers to private terminal and regular VIP with buggy

tarmac transfers do not always use private terminal, but sometimes lounge area in main terminal

IIRC VIE uses general aviation terminal

dont recall re IST, if they had tarmac transfers and whether lounge area was in main terminal

TLV has tarmac xfer to private terminal for around $300. Various levels of VIP up to that.
DUB has tarmac xfer to private terminal around $200.
DME has VIP to private exit around $250 (oddly enough they charge you ~$5 for coffee and drinks there).
HKG has VIP for passport control but no tarmac, or even expedited security
PVG/PEK are around $2000 for tarmac. There is a VIP with separate entrance for around $100.
AMS around 500 for tarmac
CDG around 800, there are lower levels too
ZRH around 350 for tarmac
MUC/FRA around 450 for tarmac
SIN around 300

AUH had something, not sure if open yet.

They have tarmac xfers only when plane uses remote stand, which is quite frequent. Thankfully, recently TK started using separate busses for J pax.

Goes to standard priority pass or TK lounge.

IST is so busy the buggy can't get through anyways.

LHR is expensive like china, and requires J/F
LGW is operated by signature FBO, hope they expand this
TPE IIRC
other DE airports IIRC
some airports in vietnam IIRC

VCE says same thing about only VVIP if remote stand etc

Anyone use the Vienna Airport VIP service? Going in October and thinking of trying it out.

I just posted my review of using the Vienna Airport VIP Terminal Departure Service with tarmac transfers here in this other Flyertalk thread:

sounds good, thanks! re lack of arrival queues - FT told me no queues at GVA. there were queues. so i regretted not doing VVIP there. (i guess many on FT are also first off plane in F.) doing VVIP is kind of like insurance re queues.

upcoming paid at LAX will have tarmac transfer (i saw theyre hiring drivers) not sure re international

anyone booked DL's service?
